Apples vs Oranges, but despite waiting for my Cyberbeast VIN I’m almost more excited about the Polestar 3

Agree completely. Financing for the company is a concern for sure, but I love the cars. That Polestar 5….yummy.

I had a Polestar 2, brilliant driving vehicle with mediocre electronics and software. GPS would sometimes just...turn off... and you'd lose navigation while driving. Phone as a key was flaky, Android tablet in the dash was slow at best and the UI was dark and overly minimalistic. Really nice to drive though and it felt quite solid.

I cancelled my early Polestar 3 pre-order/reservation after Tesla dropped the price on the Model X to $80K. At that point the pricing on the unreleased Polestar 3 was no longer competitive and now, with the looming financial difficulties, it's unclear if the 3 ever comes into existence. Heck, the Polestar 4 is already being produced - but none are coming to the US yet.

I'd bet the Volve EX90 beats the Polestar 3 to market with effectively the same underpinnings, more interior space, nicer seats, better software, lower pricing, and, oh, a profitable parent company (yes, I know they are both owned by Geely but Volvo is profitable).

Based on the $5K price deduction available now on all Audi Q8 etrons, a model which just launched, I think the P3 isn't going to find it's groove at nearly ~$90K for the launch car. The P3 is even more expensive than the available-to-configure Porsche Macan EV. I suspect resale on the Macan EV is going to be far stronger than that of the P3 which means unless Polestar heavily subsidizes purchases and leases there will be a lot of them sitting around depreciating rapidly.

Yep - we have the Polestar 2 as well and agree with your comments. The reality is my wife doesn’t love it (mostly SW driven too), so the chance of us actually getting another Polestar is low. That said, we had a XC40 Recharge as a loaner last week while the R1S was getting a kink worked out and she loved it. It’s pretty much the CUV cousin of the Polestar with Volvo’s infotainment. Go figure…

I literally just got done checking out a polestar 2 I saw at the carwash. It's nice. If you want a more luxury type experience they're the way for the price. But for me, the software and tech isn't there and that's what I value most.

While on the topic of random cars that pretty much aren't competitors to CT. Did you guys see the new Taycan charging curve?! Wild
