Well this is good news for me I guess. So far the John Young Parkway delivery center had no information for me. But maybe mine will also come on Friday.

Spoke with Orlando Delivery staff this afternoon. My CT came in from JAX overnight, a day early. They now say they are seeing SOME evidence of rusting metal filings stuck to the stainless, but they are removing it all BEFORE delivery. Only missing item will be hub caps. They're delivering 2-3 CTs per week. Delivery Ctr is INDOORS at an old "tile" facility/showroom(?). We've scheduled my delivery appt for this SUN the 17th at 2pm.
[I'll probably be there at 6am. :p]

Sigh... as like most of you, I waited almost 4.5 years for CT. FINALLY took delivery at Orlando Delivery Ctr SUN afternoon (St. Patrick's Day). Due to insurance timing issue to save my vanity plate after selling my Model S, I had to take delivery. The CT was clean, except footprints in the bed. BUT, the delivery center does not yet have the buffing material they need for final touch-ups just prior to delivery. Although I was previously told they hadn't been seeing any rusting metal filings dust that has been adhering to the body (from factory), it was clearly visible. There was also heavy fingerprints and smudges. Unfortunately, one door panel had a ½" scratch they said probably wouldn't sand/buff out. That likely means a 6 month wait for a replacement door. Their center will not be getting the sanding/buffing materials until April 1st. Then I go back for an overall re-detailing/re-buffing. They took pics of EVERYTHING they will need to address. Should mention that the delivery center called me in the morning & asked if I wanted to delay delivery until entire exterior was re-buffed. Guess although I'm very particular, I'm also pretty understanding. With the CT, everything's new, even processes. I took delivery... but will go back for detailing in a few weeks.
Oh, B.T.W., IT'S AMAZING!!!

It's rumored that Tesla dealer prep includes a 2-3 hour buff with a random orbital sander.

I find that hard to be true. Once volume production kicks in that process would not be economically feasible.

Interested in that timeline myself, some people have reported delivery day delays up to 3-4 hours so I wonder if that buffing process is taking up most of that.
