I'm over 4 hours from Nashville so likely won't have the time. I guess I could start considering Turo from Memphis.

Will a 2024 or 2025 be similar to the 2026 in efficiency using FSD?
Yea for the most part, as they age (battery cycles) the batteries will loose some capacity. But the slower you drive, less wind resistance will mean better efficiency. I drive 85 on my freeways so I get about 500 wh a mile. But in town it’s as low as 350. If you accelerated slow and did 65-70 you would prolly make the trip. You can also change out the tires and rims for lighter ones to increase your range but there is always trade offs such as road noise or ride quality

šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø Personally haven’t tried it, but I’ve seen guys going to car shows do it. If I were to do it, I’d use blue tape on the edges to keep it from flying off.

Mine only gets kind of buggy on long freeway trips but it’s a good idea albeit, probably a rather ghetto look.

I just use distilled water and paper towels to wipe off the bugs. Only reason I use distilled water is so I don’t have to bother drying it afterwards. (Read: lazy) 😬

Only guys that don’t own a Cybertruck sweat the range anxiety thing. We drove again 2,200 miles - around 750 miles a day. The nav system calculated and leads you to one charge station after the other. It selects the charge stations to leave a 15% to 20% reserve. Max charge in my cyberbeast- with a cyber tent in the bed and a spare tire and wheel under the cybertruck and some luggage and my 250 pound bode and my wife 135 lbs, and we just never had any issue on getting to a charge station- all Tesla charge stations. If I came into a really fast super charger 350 kw - now and then I would let it charge to 95% - usually when we went to lunch or shopping at say Buc-EES - and in about average 50 minutes the truck was at 95% - then when I hit the road the nav would recalculate and have me drive maybe say 260 miles - skipping charge stations that previously it was scheduled to use to add power.

But otherwise the system would let the truck charge until enough power was delivered to get to a next charge station with 20% reserve and on the screen it comes up and says ā€œokay to continue your driveā€ (paraphrased). So if the next charge station was say 100 miles down the highway it would charge the truck to 120 miles range and than suggest I should continue the drive. Obviously if you drive at 90 mph you use more power. I would set it on chill typically and sit back and let the car drive for me—

Worked beautifully. Each charge stop was typically 15-20 minutes to reach the needed charge to travel to the next charge station- so you don’t sit for an hour at each charge stop.

Not one - intervention in 2,200 miles- crazy. Remember I do carry my Tesla portable charger so in a real emergency I can charge from any 120 volt power or a 30 amp 220 volt power.

Plus I have an adapter to electrify america or the other 3rd party charger network- but to date I have not had to use these other networks.

I suppose if you are going to drive 290 miles on a road with no Tesla chargers along the way- no third party network chargers and no 110 volt plugs you might not make it to the charger 290 miles away.

Same issue if on a road for 300 miles when your gas tank holds enough gas for that range and no gas stations.

At home- I plug in every night and wake up with 270 miles range and never get close to using that on my daily local travels / I can drive north or south 150 miles or so and come back 150 odd miles and not charge along that path.

I don’t know any friends that own any Tesla that have been stranded by running their battery down to zip charge. Known a lot including me that has run out of gas though. An electric car seems to make you more concerned about your vehicle range and plan on getting power.

With Grok in assistance mode- simply ask- ā€œ take me to the nearest Tesla super chargerā€ and it will give you a list ranked by distance.

Heading back from TN to Riverside California on Saturday and really excited about making this 2,200 trip over - if the vehicle can make this trip without any battery charge issues 2,200 in three days- any other trip is trivial.

Did I mention the truck drove itself from charger to charger and backed into a stall to be charged by itself. All I did was plug in.

The best and most amazing and most comfortable vehicle I have ever owned- and I have owned every model from Mercedes s560 sedans, Ferrari, porsche panameras and 911’s, BMW’s, Chevrolet trucks, Jaguars- and others - and the cybertruck for traveling is the best overall vehicle of the them all.
