Hey everyone! While at SEMA 2024 I was able to check out the latest product for Cybertruck to make the whole truck bulletproof beyond just the steel body panels.

"you can shoot out, but no bullets can come in"

well, that's what they said and the right rear glass was shot out of. What do you think of the mirror designs?
yep, not faulting you for the reporting. Just that company who sent the wrong guy to talk about it (which is the worst thing you could do at a trade show lol).

The mirror design is amazing! It's about time someone materialized that idea I had 5 years ago. Chemical and laser etching is coming soon too. Can't wait!!

(hint: remember how a few weeks ago Tesla was selling a black stainless steel cyberwhistle?)

Aside from unknown alien technology, there is not a single chance that works as they say it does.

Also, any product marketed as bullet "proof" is .... Well, not. Everything marketed as an armored product is bullet 'resistant'.

The glass popped that balloon. So yeah, marketing non-sense.

But what do I know. I only train other professionals on this kind of stuff. Maybe I need to take lessons from internet strangers who can google search.

pro tip: the aim points for the weak point in ballistic glass are the smaller deformations, not the larger depressions. but then again, silly me. I have no idea what I'm talking about.

Cheers!

But looking at the photos it appears the glass is no more bullet proof than the glass at the 2019 Cybertruck reveal was steel ball proof!

I mean, the steel ball never went into the cabin, but it was considered a failure because it shattered. Are we now to believe that bullet proof glass is somehow judged differently? That it can be called a "success" even when it shatters?

If so, why was the original glass at the reveal considered a failure because it fractured?

Did you watch the video? If you do you will see that the interior side is still smooth. Bulletproof means it doesn't make it through the glass. Shattered glass is not the concern when being shot at, making sure you arent' hit IS. It does it's job of keeping the bullets from ENTERING the cabin

Seems like a bad idea, given the other thread where 3 people couldn't get out a burned to death. Laminated glass already makes it much harder to break, adding a bullet proof layer must make it exponentially worse.

Those people could have easily died on impact due to extreme speeding, and not a fire.

They also could have died by fire and not impact.
Your earlier comment seems like it's spoken from a matter of fact, rather than speculation. Did this story get any updates since it was last reported?
