How would you like a carbon fiber BAW? Aptera is thinking of going with a carbon fiber wiper arm.
I think this would be amazing. No fade. Stronger and lighter than traditional arms. Super durable. Damn. Ya know, that would be slick!

I’m sure it would be fine.

I’d like to point out, however, that buses, RVs, and Semis have had giant windscreens with equally large wipers since forever. No exotic technology is needed for the BAW, other than the B and the W.

I like the ide of a carbon or graphite arm but prefer the electromagnetic translational design over the rotational design. BAW just say no.

It will be a BAW no matter which direction it swings :)
True, whether sliding or rotating it will be HUGE. I just have more faith in getting the windshield clean for driver, camera, and passenger if the blade goes straight across the window.

Nooooo…

Aptera speeds are never above eco.
Cyber* are definitely above aerodynamic.

CF is fine at low speed(<60 mph) for Aptera.
It’s not >60 mph as wiper ass’y begins to lift. The BAW relies on weight to swipe, stay attached and parked at rest.

Wipers are held down by spring tension not weight so it doesn't matter what they weight.

But I was thinking lead, or even better gold (it's heavier) laden BAW would really help keep the pressure accross the wiper blade, for a clean wipe everytime, regardless of what number was done on your windscreen. Makes sense to make it removable then too for safe keeping and investment purposes. ;) ;)

Shall we do some math to work put how many newtons of force we can generate with weight and how that compares to a spring? I'm pretty sure it will work, but I somehow doubt the CT will use anything but SS. CF is not happy in prolonged sunlight exposure and the weight saved can't be more than 1kg. Thats nothing in the grand scheme of things, they'd be better off deleting some cup holders.

But if they do a CF wiper I'm sure it will be a $5000 optional upgrade. You know because Tesla should charge as much as they can for features nobody else has. :ROFLMAO:

That reminds me of a kids joke: what's the last thing that goes through the mind of a bee when it hits your windscreen? It's bee-hind.

So in places where bugs are a constant source of windscreen splatter it seems BAW might need to be renamed to SAW.

Nice to know. I had no idea that CF was no good in prolonged sunlight exposure. Thanks for sharing.
lead or gold? 🤣
that was pretty funny.

Lol. I was going to write depleted uranium, but thought it was too nerdy and most people don't know its even heavier.

The CF itself isn't too bad, its the resins that hold it together, that are more of an issue.
