Changing FS Order to Non-FS

Configured for FS CT AWD on 1/5 and with the wait, starting to feel like upgrading our 3 to new 3 and then later getting non-FS CT makes the most sense for us.

I reached out to my local sales rep people and was essentially told it’s impossible to do. I’m left with the option to cancel entirely or go through with purchase.

Anyone able to have better luck with this or know of another avenue?

I feel like I have read other threads where they have done it. I wonder if your 1/5 order is pretty close to inbound, which is why they won't allow you to.

Pretty sure you can decline the FS and then just have the non-FS, a good number of people are posting that they are doing this. With your order being 1/5 you will want to do it rather quickly so the truck is not sent to your delivery location.

Certainly possible. I even specifically asked this and they said they know nothing more than what I can see on my app. Which I sadly believe, as this isn’t our first Tesla rodeo.

Really want a CT, but realizing we can wait and simply upgrade our 3 for now.

Man, that's a tough predicament. Which do you think would be harder to get down the road? I see the CT being more difficult. Maybe just accept the CT if so, and hold on the M3? I am sure economy will be in better shape, and they will probably be easier to obtain than the CT. Just my take. Of course, I know nothing of your situation. I wish you the best!

While we’re financially great, certainly don’t have unlimited funds. So the thought of getting the updated 3 and then an AWD CT without the markup in a year or two makes more and more sense. That’s probably the biggest driving factor for me.

Tesla has offered a $1000 discount on other Tesla vehicles to most early reservation holders. If you can take advantage of that before canceling you might break even.

Sadly 3 AWD is estimated to arrive May, so wouldn’t qualify. Good idea though.

Wait for the CT, try to flip, you might get the M3 for free.

That's kind of weird, because other people have been told the opposite. If you wait until VIN assignment to make a change, you will have to cancel to make any changes.

I'm not doubting what you were told, I'm just wondering who is actually right.
