The fine for icing should not be equal or greater than parking in a handicap spot.

In China, they added a physical barrier retracts for registered EV owner only.
There was a very similar problem where three pickups parked in the slots at one of the Hickory, North Carolina superchargers a few years back.

The NSW Australia method seems effective, but I like the China approach of retractable barriers because they leave no room for misinterpretation.

But the China method has additional costs of deploying said barriers, and in America these type barriers would have to be larger and much higher because many pickup trucks with raised suspensions would easily clear the barriers shown in the picture, as if they were not even there. But maybe if they were scaled and planned to be part of all Supercharger deployments going forward, the costs might not be prohibitive. I would think the Tesla software could easily interface and auto-retract such barriers if implemented correctly. But there is also the maintenance cost factors because they would add complexity to each charger stall - so probably not very feasible.

This problem could be sometimes a recurring trend in the future as more Superchargers are brought online and more Teslas are on the road.

Might be a booming business opportunity for tow-trucks though! Imagine a Tesla Semi version of a tow-truck. That would be cool to see.

Shout out to the GTOger channel - wish they would start posting new videos again.

It's usually the coal rollers

Where I'm at, it's common to have only 2 of the ~12 gas pumps at the station to have diesel. So it would only take 2 EVs to get revenge

The gas station would have you towed almost immediately--you're getting in the way of their business! Charging stations very very rarely have any kind of supervisors or management nearby. So unless someone complains AND someone complained to cares, nothing happens

What all this shows is the direction things are going in.

Governments are providing EV incentives, and pushing the infrastructure to support it.

Maybe we have had our version of the wild wild west.. and its over.

Drivers will be educated to respect the charging spot or penalties will be applied. No different to getting a ticket in a no parking zone.

From what I can tell, that business moved to a larger, more modern building out of Deep Ellum. I loved those videos, such a rare insight into human psyche.
