That’s a pretty interesting insight. GigaAustin Cybertruck production just for domestic market, GigaMexico producing international cybertruck… sooooo….. Australian deliveries 2025?

Tesla Mexico is on nearly twice the land as Austin.

I thought Austin would be the pinnacle of Tesla world, and lessor giga's would spawn across the world. Not so.

We can write a long list... It is going to be mind blowing.

For example... if it is bigger that Austin... it will grow to only 10,000 employees ?

And 10,000 Robots... ?

Autonomous trucks carting goods? Autonomous taxi's autonomously driving to their work space?

I'm seeing Tesla taking an enormous jump on their competitors. Checkmate, game over.

18 months.
From what I understand, ~12 months until start of production. That’s the goal Zhu set anyhow.

Tom Zhu believes it will be built in record time knocking out Shanghai which broke ground in January and was built by October, so about the 9.5 month mark.
Faster, Stronger, BIGGER! imo

a few years back, hourly wages in Mexico in dollar terms were 40 per cent lower than in China. Haven’t seen brought-down figures recent, but can’t see a macro reason for things to have reversed

And I’ll be admittedly displaying some biases, but: MX has a young and growing labour force (in contrast), and our brethren to the near south can do the business on some building.

not all good facts for the people of Mexico, but if you’re a car company…

They are still permitting in Mexico. I think he said they’d break ground in 3 months and production starts 9 months after that.

au moins une bonne nouvelle ! reste maintenant le poids ! j'espère moins de 3500 kgs !!
Hopefully. Elon was saying they were targeting somewhere near 2400 kgs. That's the weight of a Ford F150.

I've decided to believe they're launching both mid and full size together

I'm basing this on my gut source

That vault cover going to be Cybertruck's Achilles Heel, similar to the gullwing doors on the X. The tolerances will be too tight and as the truck flexes hard or endures stress over time that cover will bind. I've been driving full-size trucks since '95 and always had camper shells.
This will be like nothing you have ever driven. Flex and stress should not be an option as CT is 3mm stainless steel

There is always "some" flex. But the CT will be somewhat akin to driving an I-beam down the road. Between the skin, the castings, and the battery pack you basically have a large U-channel, and you are in sitting in the middle of it.

If you are worried about fitting 4x8 sheets of plywood into the vault, don’t worry too much, iPhone measure app says 4x8 sheets are actually only 3’9”

Tesla Cybertruck Confirmed Cybertruck specs: 5% smaller, 6x4 bed size, 5 seats, frunk, no pass through & more... (info from Tesla employee at Investor Day) 1678384838676

I'll wait to hear from Mattew Donegan-Ryan before I believe any of this.

Some specs for y'all! (From the employee standing there with the truck at Investor Day.)
  • 6x4 bed size
  • 5 seats instead of 6.
  • Can't fit 6 with the shrink that happened.
  • 5% stated.
  • No pass through.
  • Will have a frunk.
  • Multiple tire options.
  • 18's on display truck
  • Waiting on length overall

3-foot 9-inches seems a little small. Obsolete size or did somebody cheat you?
