The subscription rate can increase at any time as well. But at current prices the $10K is the much better deal because it only takes 4 years and a month for the outright purchase to cost less than the monthly fee. Neither price is locked in (unless you have already purchased it outright) so the two prices are likely to move up in tandem.
Thats the two big things.

* Subscription (likely will) increase if the FSD price ever goes up.
* Once you've paid off FSD, it's considered part of your car and you own it.

I'm considering FSD as a trial run, but if I end up using it long term, I'm buying it.

Reminds me, I need to opt in for the Cybertruck just in case the price goes up later. I wish I'd done so when it was $7k but I thought I'd be committed to the purchase.

Iā€™ve been without a car for year already, Iā€™m just gonna Uber it until the Cybertruck arrives

Curious, is this your normal transportation solution? What works well? what is a pain? Any other things about doing the on-demand thing?

Reserved at 7K for the capabilities at the time. Future updates are a bonus. I wanted to mostly automate my freeway driving. City and residential is under my control.

The beauty in the system, donā€™t get if if you do not want it. if you get it, use to your comfort level. Maybe FSD will not be fully implemented in my driving lifetime, I hope it will be ready when t8me to hang up my keys.

The big thing I want is just the ability to get on the highway, put it on autopilot at 75-80 MPH and let it just go.

While it's unlikely I'll use it in town much, there are a lot of drives I do where there are turns and speed changes I'd be fine with the car managing which are a bit more than Autopilot can do.

With the truck as big as it is, I might just park in the boonies and use summon to fetch the truck.

I'm not quite sure I'd pay $10k for that though.

My "can't wait any longer" vehicle is likely to be a 2022 Tundra. I'd love a Model Y, but the range is shit. here in the frozen wasteland known as Canada, distances are vast, charging network is scarce, and cold weather kills range. 400 miles is my bare minimum. Also, Model Y is no good for construction sites.

The pandemic has reduced my transportation needs significantly. I live in a dense urban area, so getting a rideshare has never been a problem.

Tesla never said they were going to give out Beta to everyone, let alone people who weren't good drivers. Geez. Talk about hyperventilating.

I did this too. I sold my M3 in March to save and then the pushback happened so I picked up an inventory MYP last week. Good luck
