Me? I would cancel my order, lose $250, and wait for another Cybertruck incentive to come down the pike.

Next month is historically a slow new sales month for dealerships across the country.

That's likely what I will do. I'm not in a hurry so it's all good.

Good morning everyone! Here's my current dilemma.

I placed a factory order on 12/17/25 for an AWD CT when the lease term being advertised was $729/month. I was fully prepared to take delivery during this original incentive period but there was no local inventory anywhere in the state therefore requiring me to place a factory order.

As a result, the lease payment has now increased $120 per month ($4,320 over 36 months), which was outside of my control.

The vehicle has now arrived at my local service center and I can schedule delivery as early as this upcoming Monday. However, I'm being told the lease price has increased and I'm not eligible for the price advertised when I placed my order.

Is this fair?

This happens every quarter when incentives expire. My general sense of following these threads has been that for the most part, the offers have been honored, but you have to talk to the delivery center, as it's a case-by-case situation.

It's not always going to be fair, or easy, as the finance or leasing company is not necessarily Tesla. In my case, it was Bank Santander. So, they have to work with a 3rd party to get them to honor an offer that expired, due to no fault of the customer.

I would talk to them, nicely, and see what can be done. Look for some old threads where the offers have been honored, and show them to the delivery center manager.

Thanks for the input. I'll try to search some threads to see what I find. On the surface, I communicated politely via the app but was pretty much told that incentive period had passed and there was nothing that they can do aside from placing my order on hold for 2 weeks. At that point, when the 2 weeks are up my order will be cancelled and I'll forfeit the deposit. If at any point during the 2 week period I decide I'm ready, they will start trying to pair me with another CT. It's worth noting, once your order is put on hold, the Cybertruck allocation / VIN that was assigned to me is immediately released and enters the queue to be sold / paired to someone else.

IMO if Tesla could not deliver by the 31st. You should have been informed of this and allowed to back out. If you weren't made aware the price would be higher and the exact amount higher. You should for fair customer service receive your $250 and have the option of backing out. Maybe its possible to elevate to higher management.

I feel for you. I ordered the day before thanksgiving at the $729 and took delivery on 12/29. At time of order, there was no wording on the lease deal ending.
Around 2 weeks after I ordered, I clearly recall they announced the $729 lease deal was ending and you had to take delivery by end of year. I think you ordered after this announcement. I was nervous mine would miss the date, and I would have a similar situation as you, even though at time of order, my deal had not "delivery date" language.
It is common for car sales to have delivery date stipulations on some deals, but what is odd on this one is there is little to no inventory - so why offer the deal on something they cannot meet demand on. I was offered numerous alternatives before mine arrived. They all had white interior, but I am unsure of what wheels. White was not an option for me.
I wish you luck in getting the $729 and let us know how it turns out. I was fully prepared to eat my deposit and keep driving my MYP. After owning the CT for one month, I would have paid the extra. It is THAT GOOD.

Cancel until your credit card company they change the terms and they will refund you

I was about to do this same thing, then upon checking the small print clearly stated that you must take delivery before 12/31 and if you do not then you will have to redo the numbers. The tesla dealer tried to tell me as long as i ordered and paid the deposit I would get the numbers listed. thank God I didn't listen.

Typically incentives have a "must take delivery by mm/yy in order to qualify" date or language somewhere in the fine print. This isn't a Tesla thing, this is every car company. No surprise, they are trying to make numbers and if they are close to targets they provide a little extra trunk money to move units. If they are far away, they don't. Incentives changes all the time the only way to guarantee a time-bound incentive is to take delivery as quickly as possible - placing a factory build order is not that.

At a minimum I'd kindly ask them to refund the order fee since they were unable to fulfill delivery during the term of the incentive in effect at the time you placed the order. You'll have better luck in March with new incentives and picking an inventory unit than you will in January.

Unfortunately, lease and finance incentives are always changing. If you want what's on offer, you've got to find a unit and lock it in even if it means out of state travel. If Florida blocks registration (weird) I'd reach out to your state house representatives and complain about that byzantine law.

I ended up forfeiting the original CT I ordered since Tesla was not willing to honor the previous lease price that changed while waiting for delivery. As a result, my VIN was reassigned and sold to someone else and Tesla placed reservation on hold. This hold lasts a total of 14 days before they automatically placed me back in the queue. I’m now waiting to be assigned a VIN. If I don’t accept delivery whenever they pair me to a new VIN, then my order will be cancelled.

What’s funny is that the new trim $59k Cybertruck is being advertised with a $699 lease. What a lot of people don’t realize is that although your $250 holds your spot in line, it by no means guarantees the $699 lease offering. The lease price will be whatever is available at the time of delivery or at the very minimum once you are assigned a VIN and proceed with financing / leasing application. This is basically what happened to me, I thought I was locked in since I ordered my CT during the $729 lease incentive but turns out that you’re not locked in until you have a VIN number and complete the finance / lease paperwork.
