For good for bad, I chose to use my FS credit a while back on acquiring a cybertent. It’s seemed like the thing I’d be least likely to buy myself as an out of pocket expense from the Tesla store because it’s a huge chunk of change and when they were restocked, I jumped on it.
No regrets. Love the tent and so does my family.
Love that I’ve been able to keep my camping setup rack free and retain the truck’s aerodynamics and appearance.
That said, it definitely has some drawbacks.
The brackets and location make a lot of very common accessories like the molle sail panels or the Chinese “cover your entire bed with molle” kits or the horizontal dividers not useable so a fair amount of “alternative” approaches have to be taken.
For example, I have mounted two builtright industries panels around the center bracket to add some tie down capacity and I have also come up with certain packing strategies that use the area under the tent well. I also routinely carry a SUP pump and puncture repair kit because as clever as Tesla says that dual stage hand pump is, it’s still ghetto for a $3k tent.
For those of you that have a cybertent, what do you do? Found any mods that are cybertent friendly you’d like to share? Any interesting hacks? Do you leave the tent mounted or remove it when you get home from a trip?
When you do remove the tent, do you go as far as removing the l-track brackets so you can use other accessories or do they stay in place?
Please share whatever you think may be helpful for other people with a cybertent.
