Was lucky enough to spot the Cybertruck at the supercharger in Mojave, CA. Just when I pulled up a tow truck arrived. Apparently the truck wouldn’t charge. I spoke briefly to the engineer who was a nice guy and relatively open. He said that he honestly didn’t know the range, as all RCs only display battery percentages, but said something along the lines of “as good as or better than a Model X”. He also said he didn’t know the price, and even suggested that Tesla was still figuring that out.

I parked my F150 next to it, but in all the excitement, I didn’t get the best pictures.

Also, the CT looks bigger in person, definitely a full size truck.

This RC prototype had the new ‘eco’ hubcaps, which was the first time I’ve seen them on a more aggressive tire

The rumored 350 mile range would match the Model X LR range, so a potential data point in favor of it being around that range.

Seems clear there will not be 500 at this point.

The duel will have 300 miles as advertised.

The 'long range' 500+ miles Tri we saw on reveal day will hopefully be available when the 4680's allow.

It is replaced by the 'Performance' Tri.. which may be more than 300, but not 500.

imo

that’s not the more aggressive tire - that’s that Pirelli street

though again, in the excitement of it all it’s harder to parse! I’ve been there!

It’s not BS
in fact it’s possibly optimistic
The fact that it is possibly optimistic, is what makes it BS. A 350 mile bare range is a minimum for something that tows.

take it up with Tesla

or have more patience, because they variant you care about isn’t what’s coming on Nov. 30th

Maybe this is the most productive, confusion-clearing way of thinking about all this:

In terms of previously-understood model nomenclature, here’s the only one of those CyberTruck model being released on Nov. 30

90C5BEFC-249A-4E4F-8D47-686BB17F245E.jpeg

additionally, as an unexpected ‘bonus’, that exact same singular model comes in a ‘performance’ configuration that will mean it’s even FASTER than expected

it’s only coincidental that this ‘performance’ trim of the “Dual Motor” model utilizes a third motor to accomplish this speed. (Which causes confusion around the 4 years of conditioning to think of any CT with a third motor to be an entirely different model, with entirely different specs across the board.)

Framed by expectations set from the unveil, Tesla is not on Nov 30 releasing two of the three models described in 2019.

So for those hoping for one of those two models that aren’t releasing on Nov 30, you should be focused on hoping that in addition to describing the model they are releasing, they also say something about their plans with respect to the ‘other’ models

Wait, i thought it was clear that both dual and tri variants are being announced on the 30th, and not just the dual? (the VIN decoder, pairs seen in testing, history, etc)

The dual is obviously 350 mile range. It is the bare minimum and gets the bare minimum of range. Maybe even slightly less. I still don't understand why you pretend you know what is happening at Tesla, when not even the insiders are as confident as you seem to be..

re-read the post

People are stuck in a 2019 unveil framework, where they assume that any CyberTruck with 3 motors is a materially different variant as was shown in 2019

the point of the post quoted above is that this line of thinking/assumptions is incorrect

there is a CT on Nov 30 that *happens* to have three motors - but it is *not* the “Tri Motor” people have been thinking of for 4 years

instead, in the 2019 framework, this is a “Dual” that happens to have 3 motors in order to make the “Dual” have a ‘performance’ version

just like how the Model S has a “Plaid” version that adds a 3rd motor for that purpose
