It looks to me like the top of the dash flips up for storage.

It would actually be cool to have full width storage under the dash, say 4-5" deep. It would just not be allowed to block your view when open, so the lid would have to slide further back into the windscreen. I'm not sure if it has any effect on the safety, like when the airbags go off etc.

There might be something in this idea. There’s plenty of space there but it doesn’t look like the dash has room to hinge up.

I would not be surprised if some of the space under the dash is added to Frunk space since the hood is so short. Kinda like trunk of a sedan.

If the surface is not designed to hold anything, I would love to see some solar cells there to offset some of vampire drain. May be even with ability to expand the surface area when parked to serve a dual purpose; keep the truck cool and multiply the amount of juice extracted from sun.

it is possible the space holds the air bags.
