I don’t know if there are a bunch of folks new to Tesla or it’s OCD where folks are compelled to press a button in the app because it is enabled. Here is a PSA: you are not required to pay before you see and inspect your car. I have bought 3 cars from Tesla so far and only made payment at physical delivery after going over the car. Yes, the button will be enabled beforehand. Yes, you will get texts saying complete the step. But you are not required to do so. And as for payment I have done both wire & ach (plaid) as payment methods in the app after inspection to satisfaction. Hope this helps.
If everyone was as clever as you then you wouldn’t be as clever and just average. You’re welcome.

12/22 colorado. I haven't paid full price yet, but see delay as a positive for me. I do not want a pos. Get the CT right before sending it to me please. And make sure it, under perfect conditions, can get the 340mile real world range at least once.

Pretty amazing. When I purchased the Thunderbird when it came out in 2002, I didn’t even leave a deposit. I drove it home on a Sunday and came back on Monday with a Personal check. I guess they knew I was coming back. Plus I sold the other Thunderbird on their lot that day to a friend of mine. They came Monday with a check and drove home the car.
Not sure why they need the full amount upfront when they know you already have a $1000. Into it and they can sell your completed truck to 100 people the same day it shows up for sale.
But then again, aren’t there 1000 full paid $250,000 preorders on the limited edition Roadsters along with the others that paid $50,000 deposits years ago? Or is that just a rumor?

That is right! I forgot how dealers wanted you to sign, no money down and "drive it off the lot" because they knew the value of the car just dropped $10k! and the dealer wasn’t taking it back.

I'd rather be told "just kidding" than it's sitting somewhere without a part. That missing part would be my soul.

Because they want you to inspect the car and drive away. Not sitting down with a finance manager for 45 minutes signing papers. Sure some clapping and smoke for early deliveries.

One can always reject the delivery. Many think that I gave them the money, I can never get it back. Like it disappeared down a hole. Just depends if you have an issue, and how far one takes it. Most that have this feeling have never taken delivery of a Tesla.

I love it. Some want some special treatment or something. I like give me the key card, see you later.

One issue would be some extended period of time between VIN assignment, payment, and actual delivery.

I will be paying prior to delivery. I have not had issues, but have been on deliveries where cars were rejected. Sure there is disappointment on both sides. Yet if one thinks it is fundamental and can't be fixed I could understand.

Fundamental example. Car porter crashed it into some other cars, and we need to get some parts prior to delivery. You get there it is way off. You say. Hey I got to get a different VIN.

$1000 is trivial if they have to move the truck to another location to deliver it again. Many in retail don't like to ship stuff twice.

Mid-december now more and more seem like in summer, mid-jan. seem towards end of the year. Tbh, i am a little disappointed since majority of 20k "foundation" value was towarding the "time premium". The late you get the vehicle, the less value you get it from it.
I agree the it’s disappointing. I believe the “time premium” is still in effect as the people who will take delivery before you won’t change between March and September. There will still be a finite number of trucks on the road, all those who would have taken delivery before you regardless. Not to mention if there is a delay like you believe, it would probably mean non-FS trucks would be available later also, making having a FS truck more of a premium.

100%. I let my temper get the best of me after they said they would not make an exception and after I had already paid for the vehicle, but you are spot on and I called the guy back and apologized to him. I told him I know it’s not his fault and he’s just doing his job and that I appreciate them wanting to deliver a vehicle as perfect as possible. Sounds like they’ll have replacement parts Tuesday/Wednesday and hopefully I can get rescheduled to late next week.

All in all, it’s a minor bump in the road.
Man I feel your pain. I can’t imagine having the rug pulled out from under you that soon before delivery. Like Lucy and Charlie Brown.

I would have begged to let me just go see him and spend a little quality time just the two of us lol.

So that's why they've offered everyone $1,000 off a Model S, X, 3 or Y...again.

Maybe it’s because I said I would pay with a check, because my final payment button is grayed out.

Dealers usually suck, but there are those moments when the dealer is desperate and will let you drive away with just a promissory note, and haggle a ton of value into the deal.

If the dealership vibes are off, just come back closer to the end of the quarter and they'll treat you like a god.

I'm supposed to take delivery in about five hours and just got a call telling me they found a problem with an interior door panel and they won't allow me to take delivery until it is replaced. Same situation where I've fully paid for the vehicle and they can't give me an ETA on when I can take delivery now. I asked for an exception since it doesn't sound like it's an issue that makes the truck not drivable, but if they deny that, I'm probably not going to be much fun to deal with.
Tell them you will accept delivery even with the missing steering wheel.

nothing. people keep falsely claiming that the alternate hubcaps (which come with the basic wheels and all season tires) are the v2 hubcaps, when this is not the case. Nobody has seen a V2 hubcap yet, and it will certainly not be a different design because 100% of the literature and marketing about this truck continue to show the original shaped hubcaps.
