Oh wow does Tesla normally make their service manual public? If not I will want to download this asap.

Didn't realize such details of the service manual were publicly available. I remember seeing links in another post but was too busy to click on them at the time.

Nice to see how 'future proof' and thoughtful the Cybertruck battery pack and systems are. But, if they went to the trouble to include these Inductive Charging Header connectors, I'm wondering if Tesla also has an inductive charging mat assembly that mounts under the Cybertruck, somewhere being tested?

With such details in the Service Manual, now, when I get a chance I'm going to search it for a possible connector to support a Homelink module. Seems like that would be easy to include too.

Inductive charging is so useless, all it does is generate heat and waste energy, no, thanks it's literally 2 steps to plug in your car people this is not needed. maybe if they put it on the HOV lane or something then it makes more sense.

My understanding is that it's a much different technology than you're thinking.

Magnetic induction = phone charging, gets hot and wastes energy
Magnetic resonance = tesla wireless charger, close to the efficiency of a cord

Magnetic resonance is much more expensive and for phones you don't care if you waste an extra 5W as heat. So nothing uses that technology. But now we need it for car charging.

I was always pretty partial to the robotic tentacle charger that they demoed, but wireless charger will serve the same function, so fine by me.

yes mag res is better, its also what MagSafe is on iphones, not sure the limits on power output (Can they delivery 12 kw ? not sure)

but still, are people really this lazy where instead of picking up the cord and pushing a button and plugging it in youd spend thousands of dollars for this even if it was real ?

Supposedly the latest breakthroughs (including from a company Tesla acquired) have greatly increased the efficiency to only wasting less than 10-15% of the energy.

BTW, I don't think this is for fast charging, just overnight at home...

There was speculation that the bulge beneath the hitch mount area is intended to house just that.

Yes.

I don't plug in every day. Can't be bothered. I had my charge limit set to 90%, and would not plug in unless I knew I was going somewhere until I got down to around 50%.

Now they are recommending 80% charge limit for normal use. Well if they only want me charging to 90% unless I need more range, I may just move to plugging in every day or every other day. But I don't want to. the 5 seconds that it takes for the button on my charger to wake up and open the charge port, then when I'm leaving, the 2 or 3 presses I have to do for the car to wake up and unlock the charge port... It's annoying when I'm ready to leave "now" rather than stand there in the cold waiting for the thing to unlock.

As a secondary reason for plugging in every day, we now have powershare. I never had a need to keep my model Y topped up to 80 or 90%. But for a source of backup, the reason exists. Even if I have to run out and plug in during a power outage, at least the batteries were kept full with no effort.

I also sort of feel like less charge cycles is better, but, yeah. The slow responsiveness from the charge port/lock does make me not care to charge every day. It's almost as annoying as the one time per month that my phone key just doesn't work. Walk out to the car, pull handle, won't open. Have to dig out phone, manually open app, and then it will finally work.
Plus my commute is only ~14 miles round trip.

If the lock was more responsive I wouldn't care and would plug in 2 or 3 times as often as I do. But especially in the winter, I preheated the car so I don't have to sit there in the cold waiting for it to warm up, but then I have to stand there like a moron waiting for the charge port to unlock itself. Maybe it's just the slow processor in that car, if CT is better I'll plug in more.

something wrong with your charger or door then man, i have 2 cars and 2 wall connectors and no issues. also a cycle is from 100 to 0 so whether you charge 50-70, 0-70 or whatever it dosnt affect the number of cycles. a charging session is not a cycle
