Well - the martian version should be air-tight.
Now - with a remote control joy stick to control direction and speed - stop before the water, climb into the back - and then "cruise" where you want to from the back.

Elon has said from the get-go that the design will do this and not because anyone wants a CT-boat but because of its existing design. I am convinced that no design effort was put into this. I am sure that everyone has had to wade streams and flooded streets in the their lives and I am sure that with all the flooding events that have occurred in the last couple of years many if not all people would see this as a valuable feature. Offroaders would need their winches less too.

I think the idea of an outboard, jet, and/or hydrofoil is perfect for this discussion group....we always need to keep it light while we endure the long wait.

To think I was going to buy a boat... If this is true the first place I will be driving mine will be the lake!!

Can't wait for the 2025 hurricane season when all the fjords will be jammed full with washed-away Cybertrucks

Well the CT waterline empty will be around 250mm (10") from the bottom of the vehicle and fully laden 400mm (16").

Something like this whilst moving through water.

Tesla Cybertruck Cybertruck is waterproof enough to serve as a boat to cross rivers, lakes & calm seas -- confirms Musk 🚤 20220930_011851

The only negative really is that this will reduce the wading depth a bit, where the wheels still touch the ground...but...if you set the front nose down and the rear suspension all the way up, you should be able to get the nose under the water level and use the forwards motion to keep water over the front to push the wheels down for traction. If that fails, you float to the top...and probably down the river without a paddle. 🤣

There's got to be a trolling motor option.
I mean someone has to look out for guys like me once in a while...it's hard enough living under a bridge as a lifestyle choice!

Well.... No door handles might be so that there are fewer water penetration points. But I get what you are saying.

Nope. Wrong. This is super dangerous thinking. Just because the damn thing floats does NOT allow it to cross streams / rivers. If you try this, you *will* be swept away and end up losing your truck, or your life. Even worse, some rescue team will have to risk *their* lives to come rescue you.

There is zero chance the CT will have enough propulsion or control to cross any kind of current. The only way would be to install water jet propulsion.

In *shallow* water where your wheels can keep traction on the ground, you are usually OK to cross. This is the same for all trucks.

Battery pack, motors and rest of drive-train already have to survive 1-2 feet of water.

Because of low center mounted battery pack a Cybertruck with nothing in the bed is much more evenly balanced than a nothing in the bed ICE truck with heavy engine/transmission in front.
Wow !!!

Now just need a 220/240V outboard motor to mount on tailgate.

Anybody know of any place that makes 220/240V outboard motor?

This one runs on DC voltages 130-450 so inverter from Cybertruck 220VAC might not be costly.

Will you be using your Cybertruck's boat-like features, and in what way??

Just tweeted this morning by Elon Musk.

"Cybertruck will be waterproof enough to serve briefly as a boat, so it can cross rivers, lakes & even seas that aren’t too choppy"

I plan to use my truck to launch my boat, but under the category of "stuff happens", this is good to know. I've seen cars totaled by flash floods and rising tides, so this isn't as crazy as it sounds.

With enough speed, sure it would be great for a stream/river crossing. But without means of propulsion and more importantly steering, poor judgement of your momentum could be a huge mistake.

Seems like a silly statement without additional context.

The handles are way over the waterline as per my drawing.

If you dip the nose and push the rear up using the airsuspension you can drive partially submerged under the wake for traction. And Icm pretty sure it will come with a trolling motor option.
