OK, might be a dumb question, and I will surely figure it out, but figured I’d ask to see if there are folks out there that have already gone through the process and can save me time.

Just got my lightbar installed Friday. Came home and wire it up. It works fine.

My question is what are the parameters of using … turning on, turning off, what mode does it actually work in, etc. etc.

Here’s what I’ve figured out in 12 hrs, without spending any time really:
- I can’t seem to turn on with the app on my phone
- I can turn it on with the big screen in the truck, but when I close the door … it shuts off?? Interesting!
- I also know that you can control in Baja Mode

That’s it so far …. So, some of the questions I have are:
- Why does it shut off when you close the door, is there a way to keep it on?
- Can you drive with it on (not is it smart or legal), but can you do it?
- Is there a way to turn on with the app on your phone?
- etc. etc. etc.

Thanks for all of your inputs

1. No, you can’t turn it on with your phone. It’s an OFF ROAD DRIVING AID. Why would you want or need to turn it on … from your phone?!?!

2. Of course you can drive with it on. THAT’S WHAT IT’S FOR. Turn it on with the door closed. It will stay on just like any other light.

Again, it’s an OFF ROAD DRIVING AID! The use case is you’re DRIVING off-road and need more light to illuminate your path. Why would your door be opened?

It’s turning off when you “close your door” because it’s not a proper starting position for it to be on! If you turn it on and then exit your vehicle ie you’re on a trail and exit to remove an obstacle (tree brach) it will stay on.

I’m so confused by all of these questions. What do you think a lightbar/puddle lights are for?

Was actually looking for some simple facts vs. an attitude. Sorry to confuse you on a Saturday morning, wasn’t my intent. Do the best you can to have a nice rest of your weekend!

Try this to keep it on:
Controls > Outlets & Mods and enable Keep Outlets On

Geez. I can think of a lot of reasons why someone would want to do all of these things.

Short answer is yes you can turn it on from the app but only when activating tent mode. Also only the ditch lights will turn on via the app. you will need to turn on the center beam via the screen inside the car. tent mode is the only way I have been able to control the lightbar via the app

I spoke to Wes and he said that many more features are coming they’re just not slated for extremely high priority right now.

I’m not sure why it turns off when you close the door…

You are awesome! AND … nailed it! I would have never tried tent mode, but worked exactly as you described. Also, for the post that said try enabling “Keep outlets On”, that works for other outlets (12 hrs after turning off the vehicle), but not the light bar. Appreciate the feedback!

Bipster, I’m going on 8 months since I took delivery of my Foundation Beast and no lightbar yet. Can I ask when you got your CT? And what part of the US you’re in? I’m in CO

I did finally get my wheel covers a week ago and PowerShare was installed a few months ago but still waiting on LB. Tesla service tells me it will happen when it happens 🤔

Personally, I’m not even sure I want the LB as I don’t do off-roading in expensive vehicles, or camping. Wondering if anyone here knows if Tesla will simply give me a refund or credit for the LB

They are slowly but surely trickling out. Only about 10% have received it.
