I am trying to pick an off-road tire for my yet-to-be-delivered Cybertruck. This is my first post here, but some of you may know some of my adventure stuff. I would like to know if anyone here already has experience with off-road tires (actually using them off-road). I am considering BFG K02 and Nitto Recon Grappler amongst other options. Leaning more towards the BFGs strictly based on their reputation.

I am trying to decide on a set of tires, maybe even a full set of wheels and tires. I have been approach by a couple of aftermarket vendors but I don't know if I will collaborate of just get my own. I am trying to make the best choice for an overlanding trip I am making to Utah from Miami next week.

I will be living in the Cybertruck March 7-19 mostly on BLM land.

Cheers!

Why not the KM3 instead of the KO2? I have 35” KM3’s on my jeep and am very happy off road with them.

I've had nearly every MT and AT tire on my Jeeps/trucks at one point or another. At this point in my life, while MTs are cool looking and provide maximum performance offroad, I lean more towards an AT for the better handling and mileage, but still want to be able to get lost in the woods without worry. BFGs were once considered the gold standard in this category and they're still great, but Toyo AT and GY Duratrac felt better in some ways, with compromise that left me searching. Enter these, available at DT only, and so far better to me in every way than the BFG AT's: Goodyear Wrangler UltraTerrain AT | Discount Tire

They are pretty close to an MT when aired down on the rocks or semi-muddy terrain while still having nice onroad characteristics. About 15% MPG hit on my JT (21 to 18mpg hwy) so will be curious how that translates to CT range vs the OEM Goodyears. I will probably put these on and sell those fugly sidewall eyesores on day one, unless it comes with different tires already due to Aerogate.

When you take off an OEM wheel/tire will you let me know how much it weighs?

The Grapplers will be extra noisy, don’t do it.
I have the Ridge Grapplers on my Model Y and I have no issues with noise and I think the Cybertruck should be even quieter, but I will keep that in mind.

It's just not my priority to make them comfortably quiet. I only want them for when I go to the places where they'll help me minimize chances of getting stuck.

I used to run Interco Super Swampers on my truck, insanely loud on the road, sounded like an airplane propeller, but saved me from a long hike back from the wilderness a few times. Wore out too fast on pavement for a daily driver though.

Had a different experience but then again my wheel specs didn’t help. Otherwise Grapplers get the job done
