Tesla Roadster and Cybertruck are the most anticipated EVs according to Google search volumes

January 17, 2022

Tesla has the two most highly anticipated electric vehicles (EVs), according to a study of Google search data by Lease Fetcher.

The data shows the Roadster and Cybertruck are the most searched EVs on Google, each with 711,000 and 608,000 average monthly searches in 168 countries around the world.

That was head and shoulders above the next most highly anticipated EV, the elusive Apple Car with 490,000 average monthly searches.

The rest of the top 10 is composed of the BMW i4, Chevy Silverado EV, Cadillac Lyriq, Nissan Ariya, Ford F-150 Lightning, Rimac Nevera, and Mercedes EQE.

Breaking it down further, the Roadster leads the pack as being the most anticipated EV in 56 different countries.

Surprisingly, the results were split when looking at the most anticipated EV in Canada and the US.

Canadians are more interested in the Roadster, while our friends in the US search more about the Cybertruck.

Really? Canadians are waiting for the Roadster? I must be the odd man out. I can't imagine spending all that money on a sportscar that I can't even drive in the winter, but a semi-affordable electric truck sounds about perfect to me. plenty of clearance and AWD, with seating and cargo space galore.... please Elon get me my CT. Hurry up or I may be forced to buy a Silverado EV.

Methodologies here are weird.

Google search results are greatly influenced by the news cycle. Lots of crazy weird news on the Cybertruck lately. Lots of news talking about the just announced Silverado. That doesn’t mean the Silverado is more anticipated than the F-150, it just means more media exposure lately driving curiousity.

I do think there is a fair amount of evidence the Cybertruck is top of mind, but this isn’t it.

Google Analytics are fussy about specific search terms; you'll get different results for "Cybertruck" and "Tesla Cybertruck".

Sam Alexander posted a YouTube video about how the Mach-E was supposedly the most popular EV by search (which didn't even make the list above, lol)

I would still hold out for the CT. I have feeling that 400 Miles will be for the RST model.

I am not smart enough to bookmark CTOC so I go to my last search on my phone anyway. In other words. Half the cybertruck searches are mine.

Huh? Apple is making a car? Go figure. Does it need a dongle to charge? I wonder if Jeff Goldblum will be in the commercials. In other words, I'm just looking forward to CT delivery and almost wish it wasn't so popular.

Apple has been “Making” a car for 5+ years. It might eventually release one. Or maybe they will be “Making” a car for another 5 years.

most canadians live very close to the US border and so don't experience a real Canadian winter.

It's like Utah. We have the highest boats to water ratio in the nation. Too crowded to enjoy IMHO.

You want what you can't have, or maybe should not have.

Everyone got to experience it yesterday. :)

Even in the GTA sports cars get insurance put on hold and go into storage till spring while the owners pick up a cheap "winter beater" to drive around during the snowy months.

For what it’s worth, the title of this thread is wrong.

The story in question is about the most “Anticipated“ EVs and as such only includes unreleased EVs.

That is why you don’t see the Model Y on there.
