Wonder if that spare can be strapped down on top of the range extender battery and still have enough room to close the bed cover?

Definitely not. Look at the size off the tire on the car. Same wheel/tire.
I will take some pictures when is mount on the bed. They will ship to service center only and require appointment to mount in ?

Well what was not mentioned it the jack, the lug wrench, and the tire mount so the 83 pound tire stayed in place, The tire cover you can see.
