As opposed to all the old farts in this forum that are awaiting their CTs, most social media types view Twitter on their phones so portrait mode makes more sense for them.
And that still doesn't change the fact that a horizontal image is more accurate representation of normal vision than a vertical image.

This 42 yr old with a photography degree hates that social media has retrained the world to see counter to the way their eyes actually work.

Peter Jackson tried to fight against the way vision works as well with high frame rate film in the hobbit, thinking "well if the brain processes vision at approximately 24fps.. then doubling that for filming and projection of the end product will be twice as good!"

See where that got him... A bunch of people who said it looked too unnatural and made them nauseous.

Btw, hardly an old fart comparatively in the context of this forum. More like a spring chicken! ;)

Noting i can spot, looks the same.
The two photos in the post you quoted are of the same truck, they were posted as a way of comparison to the latest prototype shown in the first post. There are notable differences.

Yeah, but none really visible at this angle without the tailgate open. There's a couple slight angle differences.

Why must it always be a 3.8 second clip? Seriously. They have their phone out and are recording already. Clearly they can continue to record longer... but they never do.

Also.. for the love of god... record video horizontally not vertical!
Only for teasing!

The rear bumper diffuser area is very different. Worse departure angle but I would imagine improved aero.

So doesn’t the real world work at a much higher frame rate?

There is something weird with that rear end. I don’t think it’s final at all.
Disregard those two things sticking out, I'm talking about the overall shape. It definitely is a deliberate design choice, one can hope they'll go back to the original one.

it sure does, but its at an infinite frame rate. When you chop up that infinite frame rate into smaller chunks it causes a choppy/stuttering effect. It is known for a greater part of the last century over most of the history of film that 24fps is the ideal framerate to cancel out this stutter.. because that is approximately how fast your brain processes the infinite projection of the external world on your eyeballs.

Doubling that does not cancel out that stutter effect for a vast majority of people. Same thing with 120hz tvs. Since it is impossible to capture and project the real world artificially at infinite framerate, then the key to "natural" replication of vision is to match the frequency as close to your brains ability to process it, otherwise you have out of sync moments that mess with your brain and can cause motion sickness from subtle stuttering picture that you don't even realize you are seeing.

Same thing happens with trying to capture certain lights on video. If you do not sync the video camera frame rate to the frequency of the lights being used on camera, then you get strobing. It is easier to solve for this mismatch on video because video capture frame rates are relatively close to lighting frequencies. But on brains vs real world the difference is vast.. hence the problem is more noticeable.

That's image resist vs frame rate, and 24 isn't ideal, it's just dividing circle so you have blank space between frames. It's not a magical number.

You'd never want 24 fps for a video game or virtual reality, for instance.

The only reason 'people were getting sick' was that they were told, and they are accustomed to the 24 frames per second. If you change the shutter speed (or in old film terms, iso), you will get the choppiness or blurriness of objects. So basically, you already have audiences who are accustomed to a certain frame rate and motion blur in the frames. Anything different 'looks weird' to them.

I just figured they got nauseous because of how terrible the film was.

Seemed like every LOTR movie was a bit worse than the previous. By the time they got to the Hobbit it was truly nausea inducing.
