My main concern with the nose job and smaller crash zone is that even headon collision with a mosquito may total the truck. I think safety is a main concern of Tesla. I doubt they will take away from crash zone. It makes sense to take away from back seat to make the truck shorter. Most likely it is the perspective and camera angle messing with us. or as others mentioned accommodating the wipers. The wiper location is inline with a windshield photo we saw a while back.

MAYBE it is not too late for Tesla to do something similar to the Lightning? I don't know anyone that doesn't like the way the Ford Lightning frunk opens.
With lightning size fronk it makes sense to do it that way. If Fronk is short and deep, top loading makes more sense to me.

Looks like the slope of the windshield is much steeper. It is more vertically lifted than it was before. I kind of like this change because of it is so hard to see through windshield when it is more horizontal. Even Musk mentioned about it on on Jay leno's show. (2:33) Perhaps they fixed this issue
I kinda like the original slope; more slippery for air, rocks, bugs, birds, .....

The front of the truck definitely looks "frunked up". So pissed.
I wouldn't get too worked up about the blurry shots. Up close, things may look much better.

Looks sort-of like a wiper blade shadow to me.

We’re naval gazing ok.

The camera angle, crappy quality, and the newer, curve shape on the hood/ window I think play havoc with perspective so it is really difficult to tell much of anything about the shape of the front. It does look shorter and steeper to me, but could be optical illusion.
I'm very curious about the wipers because of https://electrek.co/2021/09/08/tesla-patent-laser-windshield-wipers/ that says the CT may use magnetic or lasers.
I know I posted about not getting any info before, but it's great to see something on the road closer to production

That is doubtful the reason. If an 8K ton gigapress arrived tomorrow it would be operational by January. The pads are ready but it could be argued that they need another bridge crane. The HW 4 will not be ready until later in 2022, according to Elon Musk, and he said it would be used in the CT. I say that is the biggest holdup.
I assume they would need at least 2 Gigapress machines to achieve volume CT production.

If someone is using a regular digital camera or decent quality with a proper zoom, the image should have been much better. Because it's still warm in California, the bad image could be because of heat wave distortion. If they used a phone camera, forget it, it was way too far away to get any image that could be used for anything real other than a shape that looked like a CT. That goes for the dark hood as well. This might be a test vehicle that includes things Tesla doesn't want to include but also something they might have to go through the motions in case they are required to add them.
The best camera for the job is whichever one you have with you. :)

I doubt whoever it was had a better camera on their person at the time. Most folks don't carry a point-and-shoot or DSLR, either of which might have some optical zoom.

Agree heat distortion probably exacerbated the problem.

It’s speculation based on a fuzzy image. I don’t think we should read much into it. It does look like a wiper to me but I wouldn’t bet more than a buck or two on it.

I will say I think whatever solution they have will not be more expensive than a simple wiper is. If they can figure out a better way to wipe the windshield for the same/ less cash, it’ll happen, otherwise wiper it is.

It is a little curious they didn’t take *more* video and get more pictures. Also no commentary from the guy who posted them? Just a few random shots and not-enough video to be useful.

Oddly similar to the previous potato photo we got. No indication of location, crappy quality, no narrative.

Totally agree. I would have stood in the face of oncoming traffic for >15 seconds if it were me filming.

Who needs to go to work anyway? They'll make do for 20 minutes or so. In fact, I suddenly feel quite the 24-hour illness coming on!

I don't think the nose is shorter -- I suspect it's just an optical effect due to the dark reflections on the hood and mostly to the horizontal compression caused by the telephoto lens.
I agree. The basic size/shape hasn't changed.

Tesla's reason for a different wiper was energy efficiency. All friction points reduce efficiency, not just the friction of the wiper on the glass, but all the mechanical contact points cause minimal battery drain when active.

I'm not sure what the balance point or cost of return point is for the more efficient magnetic wipers but when that parity is reached, that's when we'll see them.

Cybertruck was out testing at the Merced County Castle Airport (about 2 hrs east of Fremont factory). You can see there's windshield wipers, side mirrors and the wheel aero covers have been removed. Do the rear tires look bigger than the fronts?

And here's the video posted earlier today showing rear steering and turning radius.

I don’t like the stumpy nose.

STUMPY would make a great personalized CT license plate. I like the new look from what I can see from the fuzzy images.

The heat reflecting off the pavement really puts a damper on the image quality. It's almost as if Tesla staged this fuzzy video to get the mainstream media interested and do a story.
