I was in my kiteboarding site parking lot yesterday and there is a noted increase in the number of people driving and parking 'transit' type vans and one of them decided to park next to my Model Y (luckily I was done and almost ready to leave). So what's the point? The point is that I started (again) being concerned about the width of parking spaces and my ability to get into and out of my CT when it eventually comes (maybe by then I'll be too old to kiteboard but that is a sad thought I choose to ignore for now - sort of). I have not noticed people with full-sized pickups having undo difficulty but these RVs are a pain in the ass:

Model Width w/o Mirrors Width w/mirrors
—————————————————————————

Cybertruck 79.8” ???”
Model X 78.7” 89.4”
Model Y 75.6” 83.8”
Model S 78.2” 86.2”
Ford F150 79.9” 86.6”
Jeep Gladiator 76” ???”
Ford Transit 81.3” 97.4”
GMC 82.1” ???”
Toyota Tundra 80.2” 86.6”
Chevy Silverado 81.2” ???”

Any thoughts from others?

It's no wider than other fullsize pickups, and narrower than some. Parking in small city spaces will be tricky, just as it is now with similar vehicles. Thankfully it will be resistant to door dings and dents from others, so it shouldn't be much of a concern.

Based on the most recent guesses, CT will be slightly over 80" - hence the requirement for the triple amber lights on the front.

If width is a concern for you, don't look at Aptera's stats. 😬:D

Yep its more than 80 inches wide, I would definitely like a smaller truck but it is what it is. 4 wheel steering should help some though.

Weird thing is the doors are not as wide as the wheels by about 4-6 inches on each side. So the actual width where you open the door is not quite as crazy wide as the whole vehicle.

Mitigations
I’ve seen trucks pulling 2 wheels onto the curb on one side so they have a bit more room.

If you get FSD you can use summon to park your truck or reverse out of a tight spot.

Door dings are likely not a big problem for Cybertruck owners.

I look forward to my cold-rolled stainless truck crushing the doors flung open by the inconsiderate.

So…. I’m sitting here reading your comment as I have passing interest in the Aptera and placed a deposit a while back for one and I also have a Cybertruck reservation I placed on day 3…..anyway, I come across your comment and suddenly I realize I’ve done more research into the CT than I have the Aptera and up until your comment I had no urge to find out about the Aptera’s dimensions because for some reason I just assumed it would be small…..

All that to say, fuh! I finally checked and that thing is gonna be WIIIIIDE!!! af. Oof.

Glad it got you thinking about Aptera's dimensions. You probably still know a lot more about it than me asI just keep an eye on their progress from time to time.

When I saw the width I was shocked too. I thought it was going to not be a bit wider than a Hummer H1. :D Hopefully it'll be manageable though.

Anyway, here's a photo of an H1 that I took at a farmer's market this past weekend:

Life is a lot let stressful, to me, when I park at the end of the parking lot and enjoy the walk. Going to a crowded venue with a large vehicle often necessitated going early or taking smaller secondary vehicle.

As to the Aptera, the outrigger width is preventing me from pulling the trigger. It’s purported capabilities would be an awesome small errand run vehicle or a vehicle for my wife. (I would like to drive too) planning to reassess when II see one in front of me.

The width of the Aptera is misleading. Most cars don't count their mirrors or flappy pokey bits in their width. But Aptera basically has to, because their wheels are there. A Model X is wider with this comparison.

And unlike other vehicles, you enter and exit inside the wheelbase.

Only thing which would concern me about Aptera is the fact that the wheels are low and wide which puts them out of site of most drivers. Not a huge concern. Just a random thought.

My ‘21 Raptor (all years really) is 86.6.
The width is fine. The turning radius is pretty bad. You’ll find that it’s much easier to park in reverse (like with any other vehicle really).
Parking spaces are usually just wide enough to get in and out but you’ll also notice that a lot of people leave space around you…
