Does anyone know the exact dimensions of the windshield in order to do window tint? Like I know there is a black border around it. Are people tinting up to that black part or covering it with tint? And what are the widest dimensions? Both the widest width and widest length? Anyone have these measurements? My tiny guy doesn’t know what size roll to buy to use since he’s never done a cybertruck before.

I took mine in Wednesday to have all 4 done with 15% UV ceramic, and 70% UV ceramic on the windshield. Showed up, same as you - they hadnt done one before - and was told they didnt have a big enough roll at that location. They were able to pull a 60" roll from their other shop down the road, but wouldn't be able to do it same day after going to grab it...

Ok fine, I'll bring it back Thursday for the windshield.

Dropped the truck off at 11am, and talked with the guys as they measured the glass from the outside. From the lowest point on the glass near the frunk lid to the top of the factory suntint (other name?) at the roof was exactly 60". Told me it was a 2 hour job and would call when finished.

2:30pm rolls around and I get the call that they weren't able to do it. "That's the hardest windshield we've ever attempted." Didn't want to give me a less than perfect product, which I respect. No charge, of course, and they didn't upcharge for the 60" roll when the initial quote was with 48" material.

FWIW, I am hearing other shops (not local shops yet, but surely soon enough as I search for the next guy in town that does quality work) are claiming the same. And rightfully so, they are bumping the prices for CT windshields up from their standard vehicle pricing.

I get it, time is money. If it takes 4 hours versus 2...

Ok…. So you’re saying with the 60” roll they still couldn’t do it right? My tint guy was saying the same thing that he wasn’t sure if it was going to work for the widest parts and he might need to order a 72 inch, but it wouldn’t be the ceramic he usually uses. I told him if that’s what he has right now for windshield, I’d be fine with it. Also how is your darkness with 15%? Can you see inside from outside at all? I love being in caves in my vehicles. I’m going 5% all sides. 30% windshield. It might get me in trouble lol

For all I know, the 60" roll was going to do it. Width doesn't matter with the roll at 75' total or whatever, but the radius across the bottom of the glass could push the 60" roll to its limit down the centerline.

Being in Seattle, 5% is a bit much when winter comes...sunrise at 8a, sunset at 4p. Basically only driving in the dark for 4+ months. I had 15% on my WRX, 20% on my Chevy Silverado, and prefer 15% now after finding the 20% leaving too much to see from the outside. Photo here is right when I got back from the shop with 15% and I'm very pleased with the outcome.

Windshield with nothing on it is fish-bowl-y now that the side glass is done, but I'm not necessarily chomping at the bit to mess around with Ubers and all that to get the front done somewhere. Wife is out of town, making the last 2-day runaround less than ideal, so I'll wait it out for now.
