I got my new Glare Shield in and went super slow putting it in and had success.
Glass is clear, no dry wipe, or glare alerts so far.

What’s a glare shield?
This is the bit of plastic with the GPS unit mounted to it. 2 Tabs on the side and then this funny hinge thing in the back. Its whats surrounding the cameras the front and has a matte texture to cut glare.
I had to remove this to clean the glass the cameras look out. Off-gassing (fog/haze) from plastics common issue. If you can pull it without breaking anything you're ahead of the game. Its very fragile and just go super slow.

Tesla has all parts by VIN on https://epc.tesla.com/en-US/landingpage.
SC may have it in stock, else you can just order parts when needed and get them shipped.

Use voice commands, “Wiper Off” as soon as you turn on FSD. That way you don’t have to push the wiper button to bring up the card to turn them off.
If I turn my wiper off it just turns on again. The wiper Works several times during every trip wearing out the wiper and hopefully not damaging the windshield. The wiper also makes a loud screeching noise probably because it was destroyed from dry wiping.

It's a pain in the ass but I have started doing this too It seems to work I still have phantom wipes but I am not sure if I remembered to shut it off at the beginning of the drive.

I was doing the same thing Most the time it stayed off, but finally broke down after getting UI alerts for glare. You can take a LED light and shine it in the front cam housing to see how cloudy it is. But a good cleaning fixed it. Just sucks to get to even if you don’t have an after market rearview mirror.

SC can clean it but out by me it’s 20 days out to get an appointment so I risked it for the biscuit 🤣. Just had to replace the glare shield that did not go back in. After putting my new one in I think. I should have recorded when I did it.

Ok. I did the thorough cleaning of the window beneath the glare shield. Once again, it’s pretty easy to do if you don’t have the Hansshow digital mirror. It’s a bit of a pain if you do. The window has never been cleaner. I will follow up with the dry wipe anecdotal data. As a reminder, I’ve cleaned the window a week or so back but had noticed I didn’t do a great job and thus elected to redo the cleaning. Even so, no dry wipes since I did the initial cleaning.

Hard to show but there when seen from the inside , in the right lighting, you could imagine that FSD might think the windshield needed cleaning - especially if it has never been cleaned

The camera lenses look pretty clean, I blew them off with air

I don’t know what this is… it doesn’t have a clear lens and the surface is unusual if you look closely so I left it alone

so after all this, let’s see if it makes any difference at all.
Good luck to all of us.

Great shots - yeah least my ride yesterday was event free. I used isopropyl alcohol and a lint free towel.

Well. I cleaned the windshield and applied rain x and thought I was golden! “The glass is so clean!” Went through my mind as I got a dry wipe after being on FSD for 10 minutes. I wasn’t driving into the sun either. Disappointing for sure, but still seems improved after cleaning under the

Hardware trumps software. Put a SPST toggle in series with the wiper power wire. Problem solved. Probably throw a code given Tesla monitors everything but that's better than being blind.

Tip: the glare-shield plastic is stiff and brittle. I broke a tab by pressing the shield back in without pushing in on the tabs to relieve the stress.

I found that once I could line up the rear by coming in and a angle it folder up then snapped in but I told the mobile tech "these feel like single use and won't survive after some time". I recorded this after I got my replacement which I ordered from the epc.tesla.com site. Just went extra soft on the tabs but my original one they just both fell out of the mount area at the same time, and my rear hinge/tab deals had separated.

Video after my install

That’s a dummy insert, which you can clearly see from the back:
