I'm also in Tri-State awaiting a FS CT I was supposed to get a month ago... and heard similar story... Where did you see\hear about this additional $1250 for registration? Is this even true if paperwork and financing already approved?

UPDATE 06-18-24: All purchasers of electric vehicles in NJ will be required to pay $1250 in addition to other mandated fees, which is for a four-year registration.

It’s $250 as a base plus $250 per year for four years, all paid upfront when the car is initially registered. that registration process can only begin on the delivery date of the vehicle to the customer.

The effective date was July 1, 2024, however, I've heard that date is being extended.

Yes, they are introducing a road use tax as part of vehicle registration since they are not collecting gas tax revenue from EV drivers.

They are also going to start a 3yr phase out period for the sales tax exemption on EVs.

Received VIN on 5/10 and still not have received delivery date. Delivery center is Paramus. Went there last Saturday and they said the truck was in Syracuse? I am perplexed with the route from Austin to NJ. I wonder if has to do the new registration.

Does this mean that there have not been any deliveries in NJ over the last month?

I received VIN 5/17 and picked up car on June 4th from Paramus. Was a Beast though not AWD

I've heard the same from my local Tesla rep when I picked up my CT last week - another automaker has vehicles backed up since they aren't selling on lots and dealers don't want more of them. Rail lines being what they are, stuck trains delay everything.

I'm glad I got in my CT AWD before the NJ taxes shoot up for registration. The extra $1,200 savings certainly helps!

Ah well if it makes you feel any better the car was delivered without both the rear rocker fairings and they still haven’t gotten them in yet. Kind of wild for a 120k car to be delivered without two major pieces of the exterior which they didn’t even notice were missing till I pointed it out.
