A little unconventional, but I set out to build my own cargo divider just because. It was a quick prototype that I ended up sanding and staining as I won't have time to build a more "proper" one for the time being. I think it turned out pretty good!

It's made of white pine (though any softwood would work), and uses some standard L-track hardware. While not as fancy or quick to move as the OEM divider, all it takes are two hand screws to set/remove.

Parts list with cost:
- L-track threaded attach points: 2 for $12 (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07W8ZXHYB)
- Thumb screw bolts: 2 for $9 (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CRZ9F9KQ)
- About as much wood as two 2x4s (8 foot) would yield, so like $10 except that I make my own wood so it was free for me

Total: $21 + some for the paint

Pros:
- basically free
- very light cause it's pine
- can be extended to have 2 more attach points at the bottom and flipped 90 degrees to act as a table
- customize the height if you have a floor mat
- DIY

Cons:
- none, this thing is great
- fine, it'll snap in two if you smack it hard enough, but then I'll just make another for free as the hardware won't go anywhere

Maybe if I didn’t have $2500 sitting in the Tesla shop I would have made one out of metal .
Good craftsmanship 👍🏽

First off, don't tell me what to do with my life, please. I get enough people on the road and internet telling me that spending money on the Cybertruck was a mistake, I don't also need Cybertruck owners telling me the same. If you don't like how I spend my time and money, stay in MA. I live free or die.

Second of all, you're implying this is cheap based off the materials cost? Or do you not like wooden tools? I LOVE custom wood projects so this was fun for me. It's not trivial to design something like this so please go try it before telling me off.

Again, I don't much care for people telling me what hobbies I should or shouldn't have. I'm an engineer so it was fun to see how I could use the modular L-track on the truck to build custom fit components. I'm learning to weld as well so I'll give that a go once I have more practice, making this same divider but out of aluminum. I'll be sure to tag you when I make that post.

Dude.. don't pay attention to the haters... just getting those angles right would drive most people insane. Add to that getting things flush with the sides, top, and bottom. This is fine work. Could you cut some plugs to finish those screw holes a bit? Sure.. but then the haters would say "stop being fancy, it's a work truck". As it is, that's an impressive piece of construction from someone who knows how much of a pain that is.

Sure, the guys who do crown molding would be able to do this in their sleep but normal humans would find this tricky.

If it works out for you, you could sell the plans for a couple of bucks. Maybe add some mini cross braces to spread out those tension forces when something impacts.

Anyway, good job.

It will last forever and always look great if you paint it with Man O War Marine Varnish.

Yeah I'm thinking of remaking this one with thinner wood and better supports, I might just stain it properly as well
