Does it matter what trim I ordered?

During the reveal I made three reservations - one for each trim, because I was not sure which trim I would want in the end and weather I would be able to change it later. So does anybody know for sure if it matters what trim I put on the reservation (if it doesn't, why was that even there?). Should I just cancel two reservation, or perhaps just wait at this point. I do not really need three trucks and flipping seems questionable idea at best

No I don't think it'll matter configurator will get opened and you'll pick again. I'd just wait.

I ended up doing the same. Ordered tri motor then when the option to change your config went away I placed a dual just in case.

I don't think we really have a definitive answer yet ... if things go like Tesla has historically done it we'll all get a configuration finalization request at some point.

Only Tesla knows if they are going to give us an option to upgrade or downgrade the trim.

I wouldn't cancel the one you want or even better just hold on to them and wait and see how this pans out.

If the configurations are different than the initial, why would they go by the initial query?

Options like wheels, tires, wraps, etc. The dual and tri-motors are confirmed.

The only thing we know for sure is that they are going to guarantee the FSD price if you locked it in. As far as Trims and configuration, it's a ghost's fart in the neighbor's house.

Where did you see this? I did choose the option on the reservation but wouldn't be willing to pay the current price for it. I think it was $7500 during the reservation process.

it was to indicate interest. it wasn't an order.

Range is not confirmed, and varied by trim. I believe this was a major factor for a lot of people when choosing their model initially.

IMO the only thing that matters is your reservation number, which will place you in the queue and when given the opportunity you will configure what options, including number of motors and range etc at that time. Initially Elon did say that the cyberquad would be an option.

In previous queues, other factors were also involved such as being a previous tesla owner and where you lived- IE proximity to texas, so it remains to be seen exactly how things will unfold.

The dual and performance are “confirmed”, but I’ll believe what is being rolled out initially on November 30th.

Very much confirmed via the regulatory submissions they have to submit before selling a vehicle. They (all car makers) do this just before offering them to customers. Plenty of data on this, we'll definitely see two trims at launch, dual and tri. Nobody knows what options or variants will be available on those two trims.

Tesla can only build one variant at a time. They will start with the higher end variants because they have a greater profit margin. They will probably not build dual motor variants until two or three years out. Single motors will be a very long wait. When I changed my Tri to a Quad, I got a new RN in the 1.5M range. However, my delivery date is a year from February. They will be lucky to build 200,000 by then. I think the only thing my RN was used for is to determine where in the Quad build out I stand.
