door rattles?

anyone have door rattles or banging over rough roads? mine has bad rattle or bangs on left side mostly if I am turning on broken up pavement, not so bad if driving straight over bad bumps. I think they need to bring the door in more take up some of the space...or maybe something loose in the door.

As it turns out, all four doors on my 29000 or so VIN Foundation Edition have to be replaced. Why?? Because each one of the doors rattled when they were shut (video attached). Turns out there is a structural adhesive that helps bond the inner to the outer door and for whatever reason, probably not good prep work, that adhesive failed. There is no repairing the doors. Tesla is going to replace each one of them under warranty and they’re also going to cover the cost of re-wrapping each one of the doors (which I thought was a nice thing to offer without me asking).

My driver side door rattles at high speed & is being replaced by Tesla. SC mentioned mine is only the 3rd truck with this specific issue & gave them an opportunity to make a video for training purposes for this specific issue.

Trust me, if you had the issue being demonstrated in the video, you would know it because the doors sound completely solid otherwise.

And to correct the OP's terminology, the rattle demonstrated is not the inner and outer door panels because those are perimeter laser welded to each other, structural adhesive is only used on other inner door assemblies.

I'm glad they are taking care of you, this should have been caught before the truck left the factory.

My driver side door started making a slight rattling/tapping noise in the last week. But I pinned it down to the area where the dash piece meets the door panel. If I wedge something between the 2, it the noise goes away. My trucks in service now for replacing the door panels for another issue and I told them to check out the noise but they said they couldn’t replicate the noise on a test drive. Maybe the new door panel piece will resolve it.

Yes, it could be structural to the inner door insert, it's not structural to the inner and outer door panels because they are welded together all the way around the perimeter (except for weep drains).
