Hey all — wanted to share a little glitch I ran into today with my Cybertruck, in case it helps someone else.
I was leaving the doctor’s office, went to adjust my seat, and suddenly the forward/backward movement was dead. The seat got stuck in a position that was almost too far back for me to reach the wheel — and I’m 6'4"! Made me extra nervous since my wife, who drives the truck almost daily, is 5'0".
Other seat functions like up/down and recline were still working fine, and I could hear the motor making a click-click sound when I pressed the forward/back buttons, but no movement.
After my moment of panic, I pulled up ChatGPT and gave it a quick description of what was happening. It immediately confirmed the issue, let me know this has been reported before in various forums, and said that in most cases, you can fix it yourself pretty quickly and easily. Worst case, if it ends up needing service, Tesla Mobile Service can usually handle it on-site since it’s a straightforward repair. I tried a few things based on what it suggested, and sure enough, it worked!
Here’s what I did:
1. Got out and checked the seat track to make sure nothing was physically blocking it.
2. Took my weight off the seat — figured there might be tension binding the mechanism.
3. Did the "tap-tap-tap" method — instead of holding the switch, I gave it quick, repeated taps in both directions.
After that, the seat started moving again!
Love the Cybertruck, and loving ChatGPT too — it got me back up and running in about three minutes. (I’ve tried Grok also, not for this specific issue, but just generally to see how it compared to ChatGPT. It just didn’t measure up.)
Side note: I’m using the paid monthly subscription version of ChatGPT, which is a big step up from the free version — it uses a more advanced model with much more current data and better reasoning. Plus, in this version, I can also use active web searching, which really helped here.
Hope this helps someone else if you run into the same thing. Would love to hear if anyone else has experienced this!
