Don’t know what to think about this.

Don’t think it hurts Tesla or Cybertruck timeline sonot too worried one way or the other.

Big weird wildcard is SEC and regulation.

If Rupert Murdoch can have his own state-run media empire, then there are clearly no boundaries

Not an April-Fools joke.

https://www.cnn.com/2022/04/04/investing/elon-musk-twitter-shares-stake/index.html

Elon is now the largest shareholder of Twitter.
Bah Humbug, it’s Billionaire sigaling. Like smoke signals on a prairie in another time dimension. Twitter is beyond-scale that even Dorsey could influence much less control.

Think of it as Musk staking. Hey, I’m a stakeholder in addition to just a twitter’er, influence’er and billionair’er. Staking adds throw weight.

Boo Twittering and Cryptocurrency - waste of time. Just keep the accidental sneak previews coming. We will make our own news.

Hmm I guess we get tidbits from Twitter occasionally. Just don't make me have to actually open Twitter. Again we overanalyze every tweet.

Hmmm. Now that Elon (partially) owns Twitter, is it still correct to say Tesla doesn't have a PR department?

:)

FWIW, Musk bought the shares and listed himself as an inactive investor which suggests he’s not planning on making big waves and trying to reform things too much. Perhaps he just wants to prevent others from getting control of Twitter.

With that big of a voting block he might be able to prevent an acquisition or large change in management infrastructure.

I'm very appreciative of Elon's strident support of free speech, his strong negative reaction to suppression and silencing of dissent & alternative viewpoints, and his willingness to fight tyranny in all its forms. I admire his tendency to put his money where his mouth is and take action. I'm looking forward to watching how he addresses Twitter's descent into authoritarian censorship, and I dropped some cash to buy a bunch of TWTR shares and participate in any shareholder votes he puts forward.

Tesla could have done a lot of PR for $3 Billion. I guess Elon wanted to be heard louder?

Elon has made his opinion about PR and Marketing very clear -- he believes they are tools for manipulating people and he prefers to invest his money in building great products. (whether that's a balanced view or not is up for debate.. but that's his viewpoint)

He also has stated quite clearly that he believes Twitter is today's virtual town square, and that suppressing and censoring alternative viewpoints is poisonous to the functioning of democracy, and it's an indicator of tyranny.

Based on his stated viewpoints, his investment decision here is quite congruent and consistent with his views.

Bot spam, scams, and abuse are not 'dissenting views.'
