Anyone know how long it took other Tesla models to go from Production Candidate to customer hands?

I've enjoyed waiting for the CT so much I kinda hope it gets delayed a bit more. That way, I can soak in the anticipation a little longer. . .

Is it just me?
It's like the post-Christmas letdown. Around here that's why we have a tradition of getting really drunk on Boxing Day.

I agree. I remember the other thread where everyone talked about the differences between all these different names for pre-production cars. Can someone dumb it down? I'm confused on where we're at now, lol.
I second this. "Production Candidate" sounds kind of like "Release Candidate" to me, which is a new development as of mid-July.

care to elaborate on why you think anything about this tweet means that retail production has begun?

Nothing I wanna say out here, but I think in the next 36 hrs we'll see more indicative info come along. Conservatively by Monday.

RC1 -> RC2 -> confirmation builds -> saleable builds (actual production)

they are still making RC1s. Musk is sitting in an RC1 in this tweet.

  • RC1/2 are essentially incrementally more refined units, as result of incrementally refining/validating production tooling, parts, and assembly processes; if things go very well, could skip RC2 (or meaning lessens), where if things don't go as plan could end up with RC3 etc.
  • confirmation builds are essentially units coming off the ~entire production line for purposes of the last level of validation
  • retail/saleable builds are what it sounds like, and the first of THOSE units coming off the line is when proper "production" has begun

i don't know what kind of 'indicative info' you could be referring to

but in that tweet, Musk is sitting in a release candidate (an early one at that)

whatever info you may be illuding to, it will not be info that supports that they are building saleable builds (which is what your tweet clearly asserts)
