Well, Tesla will have to figure out WHO will be getting the first ones at some point. I suspect they'll want to know with enough time to actually assemble the right model. I KNOW three motors would be plenty but would like to know if they are going to put out a 4-motor version before I have to make my decision... It MIGHT be worth waiting for that 4-motor version... bigger, better, faster!

Oh, and to the question. It is plausible Tesla could be asking around but the post didn't mention cost.

Anyone got directions to the Speedboat Cafe? They won't have to solicit me. I'll be wearing the "take my money Tesla" t-shirt and a suitcase full of cash.

According to your crystal ball, you only need a lunch box full of $100.
Could probably even just use a paper bag but for dramatic effect had to go to the suitcase route. Just sounded better to me.

The + to this entire rumor is that both the 2 and 3 motor varients are still in play for launch.
The only thing I want to know now is if the TRI is 500 miles
If there is a Tri motor 500 mile Cybertruck for the original $69, 420, that reservation list is jumping to 10,000,000. The Tri motor should have nearly 1200 HP, and 3,000 ft lbs torque. No one will care what it looks like.
I was a little worried about configurations, so every year or so, I reserved an additional truck. I should get a new one about every 3 years. So I'll take what ever they offer the first time, and I'll just upgrade in 3 years. Might keep the old one and put it on Turo, or tesla rental, or what ever options they have in about 3.5 years.

what you should also want to know is whether they’ll make very many of them, anytime soon
I didn't place my order until over a year after so I am a couple years out on the list in any case. I also origionally reserved the two motor (before I bought a Y) so now I know a 300 mile range EV is not for me so I will be respecing to the 500 ( if it exists)
