No, we have been told that it could cost more,

We have no incentive to signal that we're okay with higher prices.

And yet that's what you're doing. Is your money burning such a hole in your pocket?

-Crissa
No, the money isn’t burning a hole in my pocket, I wish I had enough to burn! I have stage 4 prostate cancer along with a few more, no sympathy for me. Im just trying to see what my medical crap is going to cost Vs what I can expect to pay when available.

The big reality is that the specs may have changed more then the price. We don't know what we are getting, nor when.
that’s true

230 mile dual confirmed. 47k

run the headlines 💸💸

It would not surprise me to see the price stay pretty close to reveal pricing ~5%. Tesla is not under pressure to subsidize their other vehicle lineups with higher profit margins on their trucks like legacy auto makers. I dare speculate they may tolerate a lower margin on the CT than we may think, especially if volume is going to be insane.

No we haven't. Not by anyone at Tesla anyway.
Not true. Elon was asked point blank at the last earnings call (or maybe the one before that, or the annual shareholder meeting) if Tesla was going to honor the original CT pricing and he said that the world has changed beyond their control and that the price would change. He has also said on several occasions that Tesla prices are too high. Beyond that it is conjecture.

Yeah...I saw it. But he didn't say come out and say it would cost more. You and most others are coming to a reasonable conclusion based on what was said, but he didn't give a price or say it will cost more.
He basically said the inflation wasn't fully predicted and that isn't good for the pricing estimate given in 2019.

The big reality is that the specs may have changed more then the price. We don't know what we are getting, nor when.
Come on…

Ford admits it doesn't make money on EV's.

Why are we quoting Fords 'cheapest price' .. Which should be clear enough now to everybody that it was a price quoted only so it can be seen as competitive.

Tesla makes a profit. Any increase doesn't have to also make up a loss.

Just curious, has anyone heard what the ‘expected’ price range will be? I placed my order like most of us the 2nd day of when announced in 2019. Back then they listed the ‘price’ for a dual motor around $50k. Since they will be producing the ‘tru’ motor first, I don’t mind upgrading, I would just like to know the expected price range. Thanks
What we've been told is that due to market conditions the price was expected to go up. BUT, since then sky-high prices have been going down. Let's try to stay positive here, yes?

Unlikely many if any actual CT customer deliveries before 12/23.
Until then we can speculate with the EV's currently being delivered out of China.
For example the Ora Funky Cat, I think we can expect some fun along these line from Tesla.
Likely other cool game changers on the horizon like the Funky Cat.

I tend to agree with that. Elon understands the most popular version (not the lowest spec version) has to be affordable. That number has been rising over the years, but I think you will be able to get one heck of a truck for $53-55K or so. Tesla will fund the development and production ramp by making the high-end versions available first (I'm guessing a quad motor). Those on the tightest budgets will have to wait a while for Cybertrucks to ramp to larger volumes so it might pay to structure your finances to be able to order up depending upon how badly you want a sooner delivery.

Of course, waiting for the more affordable versions is not all bad because the Cybertruck, like all Tesla vehicles will be continuously improved as the months go by. That said, I plan to buy whatever I can get my hands on, ASAP.

Yes, we've heard the expected price is around $50k for the dual, and 70k for the kitted out version.

That's literally all we've been told. That and "if it's hard for Tesla to keep costs down, it'll be impossible for their competitors to do so." A statement which has been borne out.

-Crissa
Add to that Elon's "Price will change some." statement. I don't think it'll be the 30% doom and gloom change people seem to like to throw out there.

Here's a couple things we DO know:
1. Tesla nets around 30% on each vehicle.30% profit link
2. Inflation has gone up 15.15% since the unveiling of the CT. Inflation
3. Elon has said the price will probably change because the world has changed.
4. Tesla could, in theory, eat the 15.15% inflation for orders that were made when the site still had prices listed and still make maybe 14.85% on each CT.
5. With the change to quad motor, there's no need for Tesla to keep the price at tri-motor level.
6. With so much demand, most companies would maximize profit now ($20,000 dealer mark-ups ring a bell?)

and a couple things I THINK are right:
7. It SEEMS Elon is more interested in wide-spread adoption than profitability though he ensures profitability as a means to produce more vehicles.
8. The CT MAY be less expensive to manufacture than we think. Tesla will take lessons learned and apply them to the CT line. So, while it may not be as cheap to build as a MY, it WILL be cheaper to build than an F-150 Lightning.
9. Tesla will NOT be beat on key specs when they release a vehicle. So, I assume it will be less expensive than a comparable Lightning, go further between charges, charge faster, tow more, haul more, have better driver assist functions, be safer, and be tougher!
10. Soon. Very soon, we'll see production intent versions... and soon after, production models. I'm talking a very small handful of months for production models.

So, relax. That quad motor/quad steer Cybertruck will be less than $100k... (It better be!)
