No, Tesla never gave a number. 1,000 or 20,000 is all rumors from random people. Tesla will probably sell Foundations until 2025 (this is also speculation), but at this rate and demand, they can still sell every single CT they make as Foundation. There is a very high margin on FSD.

Well this person got this serial number (see image) 5 days ago for FS..
So I'm pretty sure there making lots and lots and lots more.

Plus for now -- The parts list only shows Foundation and Cyberbeast tailgates no plain tailgate is shown on the parts list.

My best guess is they will make somewhere between 1000 and 1 million units of the FS.

But what number did the FS start at? I saw a post in the VIN tracker thread that broke down the beast vins and awd vins, but there is a hypothesis that the RC's and some other models (showroom) were included in VIN builds, which would equate to over 1000 builds obviously.

Showroom are 1200 VIN to 1219 VIN. It seems Tesla is not going in order. They skip a few chuncks at a time. They even went back to register earlier VINs too. Their latest is 1639, but that doesn't mean they make 1639 CTs.

Agreed! Yes, I don't think we have seen 1639 CTs made (for sale), 100%.

VINs must be unique, but they're not required to be "in order". Sorry OCD folks

If you placed a reservation prior to launch day you’ll probably get the chance to order a foundation series model, it’s limited to the aspect that the only way you can get one is if you had a reservation. It’s not a collector’s vehicle or an investment, just a fully loaded vehicle that is going to depreciate like every vehicle that you can get before anyone that didn’t reserve one. I doubt there will be a quantity cut off.

Apropos of nothing, I was looking at the rear castings in the epc site.

Noticed the cyberbeast (trimotor) has a different rear casting model number.

Which would explain the low run number. They'd have to take the press offline to switch, rejigger, stamp, and then switch back.

Assuming they're only running one press for the rear castings, and one for the front.
