Front plates are required in CA, but usually ignored. I'd hate to put the front plate on CT, but with so much attention CTs get, I wonder if anyone has gotten any warnings/ tickets from cops yet?

haha most laws are ignored in California anyways, you live in the Bay Area too, I am sure you see how Oakland is!

I am sure if they were pushing for a ticket quota they could give you one, but- I just feel like the people driving at 120mph without any license plates would be the bigger concern. This said, CHP doesn't use directionals and merges over solid lines so who knows what is acceptable anymore.
I would just say that you can probably get away with it, and if/when they do stop you, will most likely just give you a warning.

Steve Jobs (famously) refused to put a front plate on his Mercedes.

Also, I would have it in or near your glove (drawer)? bc if it's quickly placed in your windshield, which may be a long reach, it would suffice as being on your vehicle.

I was thinking you just put it on the giant dash (maybe over on the passenger side to avoid the glare). It probably wouldn't be all that visible, but at least it would be there if a cop pulled you over and maybe you'd get away with a warning if you tell them you were not sure how to mount it yet and it is on your list to get it done. :)

I lied...

"Is it legal to display a license plate in your car's windshield in California? Yes, it's illegal. Under CVC Section 5200, it states that a front license plate must be attached to the vehicle at the front."

But, again... may satisfy the cop if it's a "temporary solution"

i don’t have my CT yet but I have been driving my MS in Utah for over 2 years without a front plate. The law in Utah is they can’t pull you over for not having a front plate but if they pull you over for something else they can site you. Being the law abiding citizen that I am I’ve never been caught. I would consider pulling the side view mirrors off the CT and see if anyone notices.

This is what I plan on doing, but after the first warning, you won't really have an excuse for any subsequent stops..

Oh man sorry to hear that! Yes, unless it is in your driveway, they can give you a ticket while parked on the street or other public lots. How much is the ticket btw?

$100 something but if you fix it and show it to the officer they can write it off and you have to pay like $20 bucks or something

Texas law states there must be a plate "visible from the front", so dash-mounted meets that requirement. Never been ticketed for it, regardless.

AZ doesn't require a front plate, but oh man does it cost to register in this state!
Lol, yes! I've lived in both the states and they are most expensive for registration/ renewals
