I crossed railroad crossings several times, but open with no trains. I was reading this and wanted to share as FYI, to be extra cautious

That’s why it’s “Supervised”! Forty doesn’t sound like many out of what surely must be thousands of RR crossings, though I guess not everyone will report. Always pay attention.

My initial thought seeing this: it was either done on purpose, or the person is so incompetent that s/he should not have a drivers license to begin with

Agreed on the Supervised part. Seems like every hit piece I see or read is from someone not paying attention. Try crossing a RR while reaching for your sunglasses or not paying attention in a non FSD vehicle.

The jump from Supervised to Unsupervised is going to be quite the leap. There will always be naysayers but like many others I’m beginning to feel more comfortable with the idea of FSD taking me through an RR crossing instead of myself.

My CT still makes mistakes and I’m getting better at predicting them but it’s the other driver’s mistakes that I can’t predict and that the CT just might catch before I do and to me that’s worth using FSD as much as possible. Someday I hope to convince my wife to use it in her MY.

When cars first appeared, people called them a menace -laws required someone to walk in front with a red flag, early speed limits were written to avoid scaring horses, and newspapers decried accidents as proof cars were too dangerous. A century later, cars are the norm. The same cycle of fear vs. adoption is playing out now with self-driving tech.

That story is extremely suspicious. Here is the Facebook post this is from. I am 100% certain the driver lied and/or was seriously impaired. The car clearly drive down the train tracks for no less than 50 feet. Any sober person would have stopped the car, backed it up off the tracks, or done any number of things to prevent this from happening.

Few corrections here:

NBC News counted 40 completely unverifyable sources on social media platforms since 2023
^ can be completely and utterly ignored since none of it can count as a source of information. at all.

Allow me to also correct the middle headline:

In June, a PERSON driving a Tesla in FSD mode ALLOWED their car to encroach onto train tracks in eastern Pennsylvania, and was struck by a Norfolk Southern freight train.

Last year my CT ran through a stop sign at a railway crossing in northern Florida. I could see both ways for quite a long way in both directions so I just let it drive through to see if it would stop. Definitely need to be paying attention. It says (supervised) for a reason.

Good thing we listen to Carnegie Mellonhead University experts /s

How about...all vehicles with non-adaptive cruise control should IMMEDIATELY be recalled due to danger. Such vehicles will drive into slower moving traffic, causing potentially serious injury, even death, and then no more taxes...
