wait… NO AUTOSTEER OPTION?! So it’s FSD or TAC only?

I liked having Autosteer option in Model 3 where I could just set it to stay in a lane on the freeway and not be changing lanes all the time….

Tesla Cybertruck FSD for Cybertruck is released!!!! 😱 Now pushing to early access IMG_0192

Can someone honestly explain the fuss about FSD if you still need to watch the road?
It's not like you can take a nap, play videogames, eat a meal, or watch TV.
Maybe I am missing something.
It makes more sense from the prospective of a general aviation (anything besides airlines/charters) pilot.

autopilot in airplanes are meant to reduce pilot work load. it is a tool with limitations, and the pilot must be just as familiar with the limitations of their autopilot system as they are with rest of the plane itself in order to safely and effectively use it.

simply put, autopilot (now fsd) in cars does the same thing, reduces driver work load, within limits. It is the responsibility of the driver of the vehicle to understand these limits and choose when and how to use the system

Eventually, there will be a version of the software that requires no driver to be present in the vehicle. (Robo taxi) that is not what fsd is yet.

My model 3 I traded my CT for 2 weeks ago still had auto steer. Granted, I never had FSD. Disappointing if it’s actually gone.

With autosteer you could easily cover the cabin camera and it would not deactivate. You could rest your hand on the wheel. In my experience, the cabin camera was excessively sensitive and annoying. Some things that used to deactivate autopilot for me (with no warning):
-adding charging stops via the screen
-touching the screen for more than 1-2 seconds
-reaching in the passenger seat to grab something

Auto steer was really a feature to throw a bone to folks who didn’t have FSD. It’s possible they send it out as an OTA update when the non-FS trucks come out that don’t have FSD included.

Progress takes time. Nobody gets to the end destination w/o a lot of trial and error handling and pivots.

CT is my first Tesla and while I was lucky enough to have picked this up in mid September and will experience FSD w/in a month, I'm totally aware this has been in the works for almost a decade.

Luckily for you, two things will be happening.

1. The people getting FSD improvements will gladly "monitor" the drive in the early days.

2. Tesla will beef up its self driving AI to help make this better, and with the robo taxi data plus all the other usage data being sent back, iterative improvements will be more significant and faster going forward.

What kind of cryptic nonsense is this
It's not cryptic at all.

You can't ask to be in it, they typically reach out to you. It's normally big yters and people of Tha t nature.

Or people who are close to the company, or employees. That kind of thing.

To me, this is the same mentality of when people see the new iPhone that happens to look the same as last year and say, "ALL THEY DID WAS ADD 1 TO LAST YEAR'S MODEL NUMBER". It's the 'art' of ignoring all the crazy iterative progress made by countless engineering hours and expecting 'magic' results. If we had never seen FSD, and they had never released it to the public, and we hadn't spent millions of miles driving on it, they'd never be as close to autonomy as they are right now.

I don't understand the mentality of "It's useless if I can't go to sleep" - I've driven 50k+ miles on FSD over the past three years and it has been so much fun, a massive stress reliever, and - since I've been daily driving my truck and not my 3 anymore - the number one thing I miss about that car.

If you've not used it, MAYBE I can understand why you're less than enthusiastic about it - but it's definitely a big deal. Also... we paid for the ability, so it's nice to have it rolling out finally
