FSD just got $4k discount. I take delivery on Friday. Any possibility of us seeing that $4k?

Just saw that on X.

Yes, what now??

Part of the “CT FS Calculus” was that FSD was $12k of the $20k up-charge.

I’m still waiting on a VIN. Very curious to see how Tesla handles this.

Yes.. you rightly point that out.

“FS trucks are fully loaded trucks”

Well if fully loaded is $4k cheaper I’m hopeful they’ll honor that change. I’m not sure what that would mean for our brothers and sisters who’ve already taken delivery.

Their deals have changed constantly and I don’t believe they’ve ever applied a new deal to a pending order or a previously delivered one. I missed out on 6 months super charging and upgraded interior because I ordered a few days before they made the announcement. But hey, who knows, right?

They have, to undelivered vehicles.

However, they never listed FSD's line-item price, so I doubt that changes the Foundation Series premium.

Besides, the vast majority of Foundation Series buyers had FSD locked in at $7K.

And that will probably be the sticking point. Fair game.

Yeah I actually just went and looked at the order agreement and saw that as well. Oh well worth a shot.

No, we will pay the $4,000 more for software that isn’t even in our trucks, and might not be until 2025. Cybertruck doesn’t even have basic AP

Do we have any statistics on how many foundation series buyers had full self driving as part of their original configuration /$7K? I’m just curious as I did not select FSD but decided to go for it when presented the opportunity for a foundation series.

Someone could do a cross check of the original database and the new one, I suppose.

Not going to happen.

The vast majority of FS buyers likely selected FSD on their reservations, so the 12k cost is moot except for a very select few.

Wonder how many people waiting on delivery and who were on the edge of whether FS was worth it just skip delivery now and move back in line. FSD included was part of my justification for the FS price. I did lock in FSD at the time of reservation.

The analysis by @Bkb13 had $7K for the FSD. According to his analysis, FS is worth about $15k.

The biggest component missing from that analysis is the worth of the CT as a power back up. CT has 123Kwh and the going rate for battery-powered backups is (generously) 15Kwh for $10K. More conservatively, I could compare that to the cost of a gas generator and associated installation costs. Even if I did that, it’s going to push me over the $20K value. The 5 days of whole house back-up is the main reason I keep coming back to proceeding with the FS deal.

I can see some people getting aggressive and demanding their $1000 non-refundable back because of this change. Acting like the FS was misrepresented when they locked in their order... But there's probably nothing they can do.

I do think lawyers are looking closely at Teslas very fast price manipulations over the last year. Constantly lowering the prices and then raising them slightly, just so they can constantly be advertising price drops again and again.

By this metric, there's only a matter of time before FSD is 6K. Which is then lower than the 7K lock in... And surely this behavior will make people more uncomfortable.

If they offered free FSD transfers to all future Tesla purchases... Then that would have helped their sales too. Nobody likes buying FSD everytime they buy a new vehicle, However Tesla seems to be riding the line on price gouging those people who keep comming back. I wonder how many people have bought FSD 2/3 even maybe 4 times. It's probably wearing out on some people.
