i am curious if anyone knows if its possible to change the speed limit of a road. i live on a road that is about 5 miles long in a rural area. there is one speed limit sign coming from one direction that states 55 mph, but for some reason the truck thinks the speed limit is 25 the whole road. ive slowed down near the speed limit sign to see if it would potentially recognize it, but it doesn't. im sure the answer is sorry about your luck, but i figured id ask if anyone knows if thats addressable.

That's frustrating. I do not think that you can add custom speed limits, but maybe the reasoning will be fixed in a software update, or just a plain ol' reboot.

It's not reading the signs.

It's embedded there somewhere in Tesla's crazy data base.

They say and blame Google map.

Not true.

At Emerald Bay in Lake Tahoe, there is a sharp bend that says 5 mph.

My iPhone Google map shows 5 mph.

I was in FSD and Cybetruck was showing 45 mph and was not slowing down.

Can you accelerate to the desired speed and the system will learn and hold speed?

Check your street in OpenStreetMaps. Related discussions here but about summon routes:

Aside: Using TomTom planner has shown to match some quirky drive routes that people have seen and questioned. Putting the same from/to in to TomTom has shown the same quirks.

I was traveling today and was stopping at a Buc-ee's for a charge and snack and the built-in Tesla trip planner had us go past the intersection and do a u-turn. I tested it just now using the above site and tomtom did the same thing! yet, another example that make it seem like tesla is using tomtom processing under the covers.

It's not reading the signs.
FSD absolutely reads speed limit signs.

The issue is that it's only programmed to recognize a certain size and format of SL sign and certain MPH aren't recognized (9 was one I know that it wouldn't recognize in testing, maybe 5 as well).

This has been tested by many YTers, FSD Beta testers, etc.

Mine doesn't. Drives by then every day and doesn't change or adjust. Has to be using bad map data.

They do use cameras and can read SL, they also use map data. The camera is often tricked, especially in places like GA with "minimum speed limits" the same size as regular speed limits.

If the Speed limit sign is a different size, font, or angled, it will reject it. People have even tricked it with fake signs and tape.

Yeah agree, mine definitely rejects signs that say "Reduce to 15" for example, will try to plow through a merged lane at 45 still. But it also rejects and doesn't switch over to about 10 signs on the way to town on our highway 281, that say 75/ 70 / 65 / 55 / 45 /35 into town... It instead on the 75/70 even after passing a few perfect TX roadsigns still says 55. Then it stays at 55 all the way into town also and ignores the rest. Has to be some bad roads and tech that isn't on for all of us. Some may be fulled by thinking its reading signs but it just switches when map data changes.

Then on top of that, FSD speed control like everyone says just flat out doesn't work at all right now. Horrible.

Then on top of that, FSD is just horrible at judging speeds it should use for maneuvers. Mine will try to do a 90 degree cloverleaf exit without slowing down to about the 30 you could do it in a Corvette in tops, and tries to take it at around 65 still - it would launch you off the road into a big oak tree every time if I let FSD do what it wanted. It has never learned as well after reporting it probably 15 times now.

All this results in the fact that FSD is dangerous, period. I wanted to get parents a new EV next year maybe but it won't be a vision based Tesla. I want them to have a more basic system even but one that is more reliable as well, radar/vision a bit/ultrasonics for garage accurate distance, etc.
