Great idea!

Not sure it'd be 'no pinch' but that is a pretty neat idea. Not sure where you'd stuff the extra metal when stowed, tho.

Thank you for the encouragement.

It was a simple combination window motor+pawl engagement gravity locking in up position a single hollow spar shape stabilized by in guides. It appeared to the naked-eye depth exists sufficient in both sail planes and endgate for ‘something’.

Tailgate was special-case constructed as ”H” assembly whose two lower legs hinged inward driven by a single electric/hydraulic horizontal mount ramming into the secure up “H”. Then when unlocked with a permanent top-plate serving dual use as top-of-tailgate when in lowered case. When lowered hermetically seals into the tailgate in the collapsed form of a “U” closed across its top by that permanent fixed top plate.

Not sure why this photo is in the “funny photos” thread at all. There will almost certainly be Cybertrucks with Ladder racks installed on them. Only think a little goofy is it’s unlikely the rack would be parallel to the top of the back. That puts loads skyward where they produce massive drag.

If you let the hang off the back instead of the front, the tilted racks would be better. You'd straight up lose frontal area without increasing drag. So I can see ladders or poles held that way.

There's a little bit of mixed-benefit to the load being straight forward, because you've now created a big drag in the back like a parachute. You're trading frontal area for drag coefficient with the fuller rack.

Like Ogre's bikes.

Most people are only hauling lumber a few miles so range isn’t a big deal. So likely just a regular flat lumber rack would be fine.

But you could also just put some small spacers to protect the roof and the tailgate, and get some pretty long boards up there nearly flush with the roofline. Gotta be careful securing them though, otherwise you’ll have some pretty long boards on the highway behind you.

☀The only solution to prevent your cargo from dragging air is to load it in your Tesla Semi Truck.

In the 70's, we young schoolboys would be on the lookout for a 'charger' so we could give it the peace signal and a "HEY Charger !!!'
It really was a big thing for a time.

I wonder if the CT is going to get its own reaction. ( Hey Toaster !!! lol )
