Nice Pic. I haven't seen one like that before.

Interesting photo of what it looks like when side panels are removed (OP said it was sideswiped)

I just realized, if you have the tailgate down because you're carrying plywood or something long that you need to keep it open for, you have no brake lights!!! (or driving rear red lights for that matter) I do see those little red lights on the bottom corners but that's not good enough, the break lights need to be up high and prominent. Same with the camera for the rear view "mirror" on the screen...if the tailgate is down, you have no rear view on the screen. This is a BIG oversight I haven't seen anyone bring up in the thousands of treads I've read here on this site. Not sure if you all know, but ALL trucks have the lights on the side walls, not just on the tailgate.

I've thought about removing the doors from mine so it's like a jeep, but this gave me the idea of removing all the stainless steel panels, that looks amazing! My only concern is with all the haters and thugs out there that would cut those exposed lines or unplug something just to be funny...I'd be completely screwed not knowing where or what the damage was.

Another observation here is that I have always thought that the reason this truck has a steel body, was because it serves as an exo-skeleton, and IT is the structure of the truck, and that this was the reason this truck looks the way it does, since this steel could not be shaped or formed, but only cut, punched and creased/folded, and that the triangular shape due to its inherent structural benefits, which made sense as an exo-skeleton, and this all explained why this truck looked this way. But clearly, the stainless body is not necessary, this picture shows an exo-skeleton frame that IS the structure -rather than the stainless steel panels being the structural components. So technically, this truck can have the exo-skeleton that it has, but be wrapped with any body style and material. Also, it seems that the Giga-Press was for making those massive exo-skeleton castings, and not "shaping" the stainless steel body, which is what I thought originally for some reason. This being the case, and seeing how cool this thing looks beneath the skin, I want to just replace all the stainless with clear plexiglass body panels, that would look incredible!! What are your thoughts?

I don't know, man. When I look at the space between what look like rear and side castings, I see a giant hinge point (just behind 10 o'clock on the rear wheel). And I see big bolt holes where the skin must bolt on to both pieces of casting. So, to my uneducated eyes, I could see how the skin could add some strength along that side plane. (meaning, front to back)

But I don't know nothin' 'bout nothin', so ?‍♂

honestly, i bet its not necessary. But I do think it contributes, even if slightly to making the trucks driving dynamics feel tighter

I’m pretty sure Tesla was smart enough to make the corner lights bright street to be street legal with the tailgate down.

I'm not so sure, but there is clearly an aerodynamics advantage having the panels, and of course the bullet proof gimmick aspect of it, which only has merit as more durable, dent and scratch resistant material, which makes all the sense in the world for a truck which is meant to be tough.
