The rubber on One of my front cup holders comes loose from enclosure. On 5 of the 8 sides (actually 7 because the middle is open). I bought a detail tool and shoved it back in… but anything like even slightly oversized causes it to come undone again. Has anyone had this issue and solved it?

Thanks! I feel like the odds of me breaking off a clip or two are high. Any suggestions on techniques for detatchement?

The only advice I have is “stay away from the glare shield” 😂

This is just the kind of fiddly stuff I ask the service techs to do under warranty.

The camera ones aren't the only feeble clips. Changed my windshield wiper last week and somehow broke one of the clips holding the washer hose in the wiper arm.:(

Yes, some clips are better than others.

I've removed the fender covers more than once, which are secured almost exclusively by clips, without an issue. But I'm on my 2nd Glare Shield hahahaha

Unfortunately I've never pulled cover from the center console, so I can't offer any first-hand advice, but those clips look reasonably robust. Proceed slowly, pull straight as much as possible to avoid bending/breaking, and use trim-removal tools when needed.

Of course, I've seen Sandy Munro just grab a corner and yank, but he tears things apart professionally

I find the cup holders are too tight, hard to get paper coffee cups in and out without mangling cup and spill. I was thinking about trimming back the tabs somehow to increase clearance.?

If your rubber comes loose, you should fully understand the consequences before you shove your tool back in.
