Hopefully Cybertruck tow range is better than F-150 Lightning

I blend and roast my own beans at home, and use a Saeco Royal digital plus to brew. I also make cold brew regularly, I add that to espresso some days to sweeten it and give an extra kick.

Bunch of plebes. Nespresso. Ugh.

I have a killer day so I've hit the machine for a third time this morning. Right now I can actually smell the color 47, and the wifi waves in my house are absolutely beautiful.

It's looking like I might be able to convert my F150L reservation to an order in the next few weeks. I still don't know if I'm going to stretch for the Lariat ER (which would probably be delivered soonish) or hold out for the basiest of base models Pro (which may never be delivered at all.) Could be a game time decision.
is this new development? Got email from Ford saying that orders won't be open until December.

I told my dealer though to put me at the end of the queue. I'll wait until reviews about F150 Lightning are out and users have actually tested its capabilities and quality.

I don’t roast, get fresh local beans (lots of good affordable local roasters in Oregon). Just aeropress to keep things simple.

on the road it’s hard to match.

I can plug the good machine into the CT's inverter.
Hmm I wonder if they will have 120v in the cabin.

It’s certainly something you could bust out at a charging stop. I use an electric kettle so easy enough to brew a cup on the tailgate.

If I break it out at a SC, I could probably sell enough to make up the charging cost.

I've really got to stop drinking this cold brew. It's...stout. I can see the rings around Saturn. I should stop before I see the rings around Uranus.

EV Semi initially will be for local maybe some regional distribution hubs. Pepsi and Frito-Lay are perfect customers. I think we are many years from replacing the cross country rigs and logging trucks etc.
Also hub to hub, a known, fixed route, would also work well for EVs, assuming they are close enough together.

Or from airport/port to warehouse.

Or yard trucks, moving taround.

Collapsible trailers will return en vogue. France BESCO was a notable one that collapsed down flat. Great to store away and it carried 600#.

Folding trailers carry more # but need more starage space.

Adapt-X might be the win for Cybertruck and EM’s namesake. It certainly would tow folded in the windshadow of the truck.
The first is interesting, the second would be worse to tow in the collapsed setup than its… unless the collapse is just for storage, not towing empty.

That's what I want, or a Safari Condo, two bare metal vehicles out in the blazing sun not worrying about their paint. Too bad they don't make one in Stainless Steel, I aways see Airstreams with huge dents that have been backed into things

This is the trailer I was talking about! It collapses down for transport and in a more aerodynamic configuration.

Won't the truck with its variable height suspension be like a weight distributing hitch?

-Crissa
No. Not even close. A weight distributing hitch, through physics magic, distributes the tongue weight to be split with the front axle of the tow vehicle. Air suspension can make the tow vehicle stay flat.
If the tongue weight is high enough, the air suspension can level the tow vehicle while lightning the front axle enough to be quite dangerous. Imagine doing a wheelie or almost doing a wheelie. The front end could get too light to make steering corrections.

Further, those weight distribution hitch es suck to remove from the tow vehicle. At least mine did. I'll just tow light enough loads the it won't need those hitches. The trailer could have a simple swing down stand that I could swing down when the CT is high and then I could just lower the CT out of the connection. Connecting the trailer would be the opposite. Should be easy enough... As long as I don't have to mess with that weight distribution hitch ever again. Like, never. Again...

Ford sent emails a few months ago saying model year 2023 reservations could be converted to orders during the summer. Obviously, "summer" is a little vague. But I saw on a Lightning forum people saying there are some clues that August 4th may be a day they open the order books again. So, I called my dealer and what they said fit with that. They are getting their test truck in around the end of July and that I should expect a call to confirm my order around that time.

But honestly I have no idea what will really happen. It's my first time doing this sort of thing with Ford and you know how dealers can be.

In fairness, Ford is just months delayed in their promise while Tesla is now going 3 years on Cybertruck and might go decade long on Semis, lol.
The Cybertruck is currently about seven months late. And looking to be about 18 months late in total.

Not three years.

Ford had an EV truck 24 years ago. They have no excuse for how long it took to build the Lightning. They could have been doing this when Tesla was putting out its Model S, let alone the Model 3. They didn't announce a date until the Cybertruck dates were announced.

Or Toyota for not making their Prius into full EV.

They are coming up with Tacoma, but still a hybrid and with very little improvement in MPG. And yet, Tesla's battery manufacturer is Japanese: Panasonic.

Toyota didn't have the batteries or a decent plugin drive train until recently. They could have gotten a full BEV maybe a couple years earlier than they did. Their previous full BEVs used third party power trains (like from Tesla).

Not, you know, decades ahead like Ford and GM could have.
