how to remove or adjust the band above the windows

sorry not sure of proper part name, but I have one tight space on passenger side by windshield but where it ends at passenger rear door a big gap and I believe that is loose and making a banging noise when hitting bumps, the other side both front seam and rear seam gaps are equal in size... I want to remove or loosen to try to even out space and snug up bolts

Sounds like the cantrail. Attached by a bolt and ~13 clips. I had a bolt come loose then come off while off roading and replaced with a 6mm bolt. Sounds like you have a little more of an issue, but a picture would help.
