I have never really felt comfortable with the center screen concept the Tesla uses. It forces the driver to look to the side, and take their eyes off the road, instead of simply up and down. I know Tesla owners say you get used to this pretty quickly, but I think if they did testing they would find microseconds reduction in the eyes acquisition of what they are looking at and a slight safety disadvantage for with the center screen only concept Tesla is using. Personally I find it very distracting to even have to look at the radio screen in the center of the dash while driving In my present car.

What are the sayings about copying is the highest form of flattery. I think BMW has it closer to having it right. I would love to see this concept on my new CT.

What do you think Elon? You’ve never been shy about accepting a better idea.

The only thing I don't like about the center screen is needing to turn right for the current speed, which ideally would be superimposed on the windshield like an Air Force jet.

The key advantage in the center screen is that it's a touch screen, so both driver and passenger can reach it.

While I agree that a HUD is cool, Elon has publicly said he doesn't see the point in them.

The wide dash screen is neat, but I think the inclusion of dashboard data screens on only the luxury models speaks volumes to the design philosophy. The lower tiers of vehicle are more spartan, but when it comes to automation the screens will probably end up being mostly decorative anyway.

It appears in the new model S, Tesla has already accepted the center only screen isn’t optimal and are blending old and new. The long wide screen would greatly simplify and reduce cost of the present model S dash. It would also allow for key data, like speed and turn arrows, to be projected cheaply and easily onto the windshield glass from its back. It would also allow the same concept to be used across all models reducing costs.

Based on price of the CT, I would expect it will be closer to 3/Y than S/X in interior. The price of the CT is a huge selling point.

Just think about the screen requiring replacement someday. I'd rather pay for the off the shelf screen in the Telsa's to something like that or the Mercedes EQS. Plus I'm a big fan of minimalism.

Exactly, I don't think it will have a dash screen like the S/X do, it will have an interior similar but not the same as the 3/Y, particularly with the center screen. None of the interior pictures/videos I've seen show a dash screen and the interior looks like they are following the very minimalist design found in 3/Y. Personally, like the dash screen on my S.

And I am afraid you are right about that.

Note that the Rivian does have it.

I like the OP screen better than the split screen in the new model s. And really the dash in cars is still holding on to a lot of the old constraints that the engine compartment created. It would seem that firewall could now be pushed further into the frunk and allow for more screen space between the steering wheel and windshield.

If the CT lacks a speedometer centered on the steering column, as God intended, I will likely install one of the aftermarket options.

I've only driven in a Tesla a few times (M3P) but the missing speedometer drove me nuts. After decades of driving, I'm programmed to scan the environment: left mirror, right mirror, rear mirror, gauges. Repeat. But every time I glanced down to check my speed, "what? damnit!"

I know, I know, "you'll get used to it!" But first of all, why should I need to? And second of all, I will still drive ICE cars regularly, and if I'm re-trained to check the center console, I'll get confused. "Why am I going 101.1 MPH?? Oh wait, that's the radio"

I completely agree. I don't believe the CT will have a screen above the steering column. But I would like point out one tiny bit of evidence that suggests it might. One of the main reasons (beyond aesthetic reasons) for the yoke style steering is that it doesn't block the view of the display. It's not much, but it's a tiny bit of hope.
With that said, I will love my CT no matter how many screens it has.
