Is anybody using a radar detector?

I have a Valentine One and wonder if it would fit the CT.

I thought Musk said the shape reflected radar. Just need to pay for the special radar reflective paint.

I thought the paint was supposed to be radar ABSORBING. The shape is to limit the angles at which the reflected radar will be detectable. The paint is to limit the amount of radar that gets reflected.

For those that currently own a Tesla, which radar detector do you use? I currently have a Valentine One on my FPace (Tampa Florida) and have heard good things about the Uniden R7.

Why do you need radar. Who will stop you? CT is bulletproof? 🤪
You just need chromatic number plate covers and a nearby river to get away.

Actually, the trick is to absorb it, or reflect it back away from the antenna :)

There is no reason a radar detector wont work in a CT.
I use one on the daily, an escort 9500ix and waze open on a dash mount.

Together, with other drivers alerting waze and early detection miles away from the escort, I have to be out on the road by myself not paying attention to be nabbed.

People still use radar detectors? I thought those went out when lasers became more common... and especially once people figured out how to use Waze... I tossed my Escort radar detector out maybe 3 years ago after not using it for 2 years.

You see motorcycle cops using lasers in cities, but it's much more difficult for them to use than radar. I've only been zapped by laser 2-3x in 30 years, at least according to my radar /laser detector. Radar, all the freaking time.

Good points about Waze.
I have a radar detector and jammer (front/back) on my Ducati, since it is legal here in Tampa FL.
Just wanted to learn about what other Tesla owners recommend and if Tesla technicians would be able to install it at the delivery time.

In the 90s when speed limits were 65mph and cops snagged you for going 75, a radar detector was pretty useful.

On the west coast at least, speed limits are generally 70mph and cops don’t bother you until you are close to 90mph most of the time. I just don’t see them being worthwhile. Going faster than 80 tends to eat into your range pretty fast for very little time savings.

lolwhut

The jamming of radio is not legal anywhere. Radar detectors are generally legal except in VA/DC/MS or on commercial vehicles.

My jammers are for radar, not radio

I live in Texas.
Trust me, detectors are VERY useful here.
I have routinely driven to Dallas, Houston, or San Antonio and back for day meetings from Austin for 10+ years and have had them save my ask running triple-digit speeds countless times. Hundreds perhaps lol.

A good radar detector like escort of valentie1, and waze, and you are a very hard target for them.

Jamming radar is illegal in TX, as it is in almost all states.
It's actually an act of war in the air... that's why the Nimitz incident with Cmndr Fravor in the F18 got so much international attention, once it was finally leaked to the press.. that is.

Those darn radar-jamming flying TicTacs!
