We have seen comments that the CT is hail proof but that’s from the perspective of the stainless steel and glass?

the vault roll top is aluminum if I recall, and just because it can handle 300lb of weight, doesn’t mean it can take a chunk of ice without deforming.

thoughts?

From the looks of it I think it will be fine unless you live in an area where you see a freak hail storm the side of golf balls or baseballs.

However, I think that’s the last of your worries if you think that the tonneau cover will get damaged, considering the roof is glass, and the largest windshield on a production vehicle.

I'm more worried about the plastic trim around the bed and the roof glass. Although those trim pieces are probably cheap to replace.

nothing will survive a Midwest hail storm. Hail the size of baseballs will crack that glass too. Might not go through but insurance will be called.

People are standing and jumping on it... I'm sure it will be ok, it might get some dents but I wouldn't worried about collapsing or anything.

I think you are tracking in my frame of thoughts, my take on it it slightly different though.

If the extruded aluminum tonneau cover is dented (deformed) will it bind or start to resist retraction? (Open and close)

I recall one of Jay Leno interviews Larz (spelling?) passively agreed that it was hail proof.

I took a close look at this and the parts catalog. It looks like you can just take the end cap off and slide the planks out until you get to the damaged area, remove and replace them, done. If I'm reading that right it's well engineered and should be easy to deal with if it gets damaged.

Also, shit happens, some will get damaged.
