The Twist:
The roads are dry, it was not raining, and there was no fog.

Sometimes. Try a two-button reboot. Sometimes it seems to pull a secondary, lower stream.

The camera isn't amazing in adverse light settings, but typically better than that

I know this post is a little old but I have the same issue. It's not your camera. I am guessing your truck is not wrapped, correct? It is the reflection of light from the other headlights on the stainless steel. My short term solution is a piece of black electrical tape on the stainless steel just under the camera area on the part that bends up. After doing this camera is crystal clear.

Well, I am going to try that very fix today. My wife had the blinker camera issue with her 2020 MY and it would do about the same thing with the camera. I didn't connect the dots. Thanks! Will report back once I check it out.

Cool, let me know how it works for you. 100% improvement for me personally.
My next step is finding a nice piece of Matt black PPF. Black electrical tape only a temporary fix.

You know, some stealth black ppf in some kind of pattern... so it doesn't look too much like a Hitler mustache...

Funny! Was actually thinking there is a business here for a strip that goes across that whole piece, clear and fade into Matt black at the camera.

Exactly. Well, it's only the little flat strip just below the camera. If that whole strip was just gloss black (to match the tail light bar), it probably wouldn't be noticeable at all.

Not that it helps, but here's a picture. People like pictures. This is mine. The arrow points at the little flat area that needs to be taped... maybe using the lightbar tape. LOL

good point but you really want flat black if you want it to be no reflective for the camera lens.

That's true. Maybe gloss for the entire back and then flat just below the camera. Or at least satin or stealth.
