I think both the roomers and Crissa are right. You can not sell a vehile until the regulatory agencies approve, but what do you guys think all of this testing has been for? im sure EPA's already been given range numbers, and we're just waiting for the multiple crash tests to come in now. Plenty of evidence that this is happening.

Obviously, no delivers have been made yet. But I would assume employee interest solicitation would take place around the same time as these regulatory tests, so that both efforts conclude around the same time.

Not sure where you see the cruelty, its not like the employees get first dibs because Tesla likes them more than us... Its simply because employees have better access to the company and are less likely to complain to the press WHEN things go wrong. First couple batches of anything never come out right, let alone a brand new type of vehicle. So the eager employees are being used as guinea pigs, for the benefit of us all.

I was responding to @cvalue13 comment that Tesla was actively cultivating misinformation. I do think it is [kind of] cruel to encourage this kind of speculation. My comment had nothing to do with reality of whether (or when) employees get their Cybertrucks. I have no issue with that.

My guesses are worthless, but the next quarterly report from Tesla is mid-October.

A CT announcement would make sense on which side 2 weeks from that report? If it would matter at all?

Hmmm. . .

Elon said Q3 for the Delivery Event, and later modified it to early October
when did he say early october? was that post-Q2?

because if we're following the principle of what Musk/Tesla says in a given context, then it would seem one might also listen to changes in what is said

back at Q1 Musk said targeting Q3 delivery event.

but at Q2 Musk said 'this year'

that specific information is the sort of thing carefully managed, even by Musk, in a quarterly

if at Q2 Musk still believed a Q3 event, he almost certainly would have said that, and not said 'this year'

All right. The next question, "When will you -- when will you give more information about the Cybertruck orders, estimated delivery schedules, pricing, and specifications?"
Elon Musk -- Chief Executive Officer and Product Architect
Demand is so -- so far, off the hook, you can't even see the hook. So, that's really not an issue. I do want to emphasize that the Cybertruck has a lot of new technology in it. Like a lot.
It doesn't look like -- it doesn't look like, you know, any other vehicle because it is not like any other vehicle. So -- and the production ramp will move as fast as the slowest and least likely elements of the -- of the entire supply chain and -- and internal production. So, you know, I wouldn't expect, you know -- I hope it's smooth. You know, we're certainly better at production ramps than we -- you know, we've got a lot of experience with the production ramps.
But, you know, our first -- our first order approximation is there's like 10,000 unique parts and processes in -- in a -- you know, in the Cybertruck. And if any one of it'll go as fast as the least lucky, you know, at least well-executed element of the 10,000. So, always very difficult to predict the -- the ramp initially, but I think we'll be making them in high volume next year, and we will be delivering the car this year.

hey that's not what i said!

I said that Tesla is actively showing off all these RC builds, while pretty clearly communicating the boundaries of what is / is not going on: they announced first TX build via twitter, and their Q2 was clear they're not in production, and that production wouldnt occur until later this year, etc.

separately said that I worry that there are portions of the population taking that information, and twisting it to their various ends, and *they* are the ones primarily causing the confusion/misinformation. even the ones that know better.

e.g., within a couple of days of Tesla showing the first TX build, members here posted a video of a unit pulling out of GFTX and proclaimed "first production unit leaving GFTX." And those unfounded/confused statements weren't corrected even when the very next day Tesla itself in its Q2 stated that only RCs were being built and production wouldnt occur until later in the year, and several pointed out that contradiction.

I see. That is (clearly) not how I read your comment. I read it that Tesla was cultivating these ideas. After all, my comment that you commented on was that Tesla could stop these theories at any time by providing the Delivery Event date. You then said 'they' were doing it on purpose and that is why I thought you meant Tesla. Mea culpa.

I can see the conversation on X right now between Elon and angry owners after they try cleaning their CTs for the first time.

fair read, fair confusion

i've been thinking on what Tesla might reasonably do to quell the building confusion, but I'm coming up unsure that there's much reasonable to expect of a public company trying to thread the needle between (A) hype-building and (B) not establishing timelines that aren't concrete

the whole point of validation assumes the ongoing possibility that something is discovered that alters aspirational timelines

That is why we have to hope certification is achieved soon, because Elon can set the Delivery Event date, for sure, when the Cybertruck gets certified.

Us men don't get much choice these days when it comes to dating.. Its either below 5 and sane, or above and crazy. Every woman i've dated except one was nuts. I thought it was just all women, till i met that one... Of-course, shes almost a decade older :( Women say all the good men are taken, but where are all the good women?

I thought a nice car would be a chick magnet, but it seems to have done the opposite for me :( I think right around the time you start shaving and drawing your eyebrows, is the point of no return. Sorry, that got political fast haha.. Maybe i'm asexual, i should have been an amoeba..

here's an example for you:

Yes, I see that he is behind the wheel and saying that it is a production candidate, but I do not see how this relates to Cybertruck certification. Can one not have a production candidate unless the vehicle has passed certification?

“production candidate” is just a loose (or perhaps Xwitter-friendly) way of saying “release candidate”

there is no “production candidate” category in the Tesla steps between “release candidate” and either confirmation builds, or retail builds

but there *is* Xwitter value to overly-optimistic miss-interpretations
